The only one who spouts garbage is you. Freedom of speech isn't garbage.

Feel free to yell about communists in your front yard. There isn’t “free speech” on this site. People have been banned all the time for speech and that’s fine.

This is typical of the hypocritical logic I have come to expect from types like you. You ban what you can not refute.

The fact that they choose to respond with dictates to "stop" means they are nothing more than petty tyrants who can not tolerate dissenting opinioms.

But when somebody says the American public tends to side with the bosses over the workers, you go nutty on them. That's some great tolerance right there.

I didn't go nutty but merely pointed out that lines like "When the workers come in conflict with the massa's, the American public almost inevitably sides with the bosses." is typical of the rhetoric used by the communists since the earliest days of Marx, and Bakunin in the first International. If you think it isn't then your knowledge of world history is surely lacking. Moreover I didn't threaten to ban him. Threatening to ban free speech is something "progressives" and snowflakes do.

You need to improve your reading skills (my post was three lines long and still it seemed too much for you), your logical ones, or correct your ideological ones (communism = socialism = Stalin = hippies = ... Jesus CHrist, are we back in the 50s?? Are you a McCarthy descendent?) But as long as you are supporting societies (real or ideal) where social services are profit-based, there's little likelihood of your doing any of that.

Let me set the record straight on social services. Like I said until 2014, I was Director of one of Maryland's Depts of Social Services and member of the Secretary's leadership team. I also served as President of the County's Local Management Board which coordinated virtually all of the State and Federal Government's Community Action Program funds in our County. I also served as President of the Boy's and Girl's club as well as a member of the board of directors for the County's United Way. So from 1997 until I retired in 2014, I was not aware of a single social service that was profit based. Here is list of some of the specific social service programs under my purview during that time :

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) / Food Supplement Program (FSP)

Burial Assistance.

Temporary Cash Assistance.

Energy Assistance.

Office for Refugees and Asylees (MORA) - DHR.

Homelessness Prevention Program.

Kinship Care.

Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC)

Project Home

Adult Protective Services

In-Home Aides Services

Social Services to Adults

Respite Care Program

Adult Public Guardianship

Project SAFE (Stop Adult Financial Exploitation)

Child Protective Services

Medical Assistance

Office of Home Energy Programs

Public Assistance to Adults (PPA)

Temporary Cash Assistance

Temporary Disability Assistance

Transportation Assistance Program

MCHIPS Children's Medical Assistance.

Please enlighten me which of these programs is profit based? Now I admit we compared to some other jurisdictions were not the largest with a budget of less than 100 million dollars. But for the life of me I can't figure out what you mean by profit based social services

Ya know what? I was away from this site for a while and now I know why.

This is a fairly small sandbox and we've had a long standing policy of not entering into political discussions for the sake of avoiding ******** just like what's going on now.

I appreciate and recognize your right to free speech. You have every legal right to climb up on your soapbox and spew whatever you want if you don't care about maintaining this forum as a place where people can go to get away from political...again.. ********.

Frankly, your, "I have a legal right...." rings about as soundly to me as, "I have a legal right to not wear a face covering". Ya, you do, as long as you don't mind being a first-class...... ah.. whatever.

You have a right to your opinion just as I to mine. Unfortunately only those opinions acceptable to the PC crowd are allowed even if they are as absurd as implying that social services in this country are profit based, an erroneous statement one usually expects from only avowed Marxists.

Is every thread on Talksox being politicized now? Sheesh

Seems like it. Wanting a Red Sox baseball forum to be just about Red Sox and baseball is too much to ask.

Maybe EN just can’t figure out where to Off Topic forum is?

I didn't start this by making a Marxist comment about the current state of negotiation between the players and the owners. I merely pointed out the rhetoric was right out of a 1930's edition of Pravada.

If you want to fill your diaper, don’t bring it here.

This is the baseball forum, dumb dumb.

Then talk baseball and don't bring Marxist rhetoric to the discussion. Don't get your panties in a knot with me.

You’re the only one saying it’s Marxist. The rest of us are talking about the on going labor negotiations.

Jad's rhetoric was classic Marxism. All he had to do was specifically deny that he is a Marxist.. He never did. Moreover that line that social services are profit based is total nonsense. BTW who is keeping the discussion political. I am now responding to your posts. If you keep commenting along this line. I will keep responding.

I call for a moratorium on Marxism on any Red Sox board this side of the Volga River...

Depending on where you are and which direction you travel you have to cross the Volga River to get here. So that wouldn't work.:)

Who the hell cares if someone is a Marxist? They're entitled to their beliefs. We're not living in the Red Scare anymore

I am not singling you out, because others are also guilty of making political posts where they don't belong. But politics has been a long standing no-no on this forum, until we recently allowed the political coronavirus thread.

You can post whatever you would like, but why not at least take it to the political coronavirus thread? Anything goes there, and I'm sure they would love to have you join the discussions.

That is because you never had to fight them or deal with them. Having lived in Latin America and having served there for a number of years I have seen their evil up close. Several of my professional contacts were assisnated by the FMLN including the teen age niece of someone I worked with. One of my colleagues and his wife were trapped in their bathroom during an FMLN attack. They were specifically targeted. The only reason they survived was a satchel charger thrown on top of the roof of the house failed to explode. So excuse me if I am a little overbearing on this subject.

Ok, but going ape s*** on anybody that says something that might come across as communist isn't going to solve anything, nevertheless a harmless stranger on the Internet, doesn't exactly solve the problem, and in fact, is a little bigoted. You're assuming every Communist is as extreme as those people that killed your colleagues. As hard as that was to deal with for you, responding with increased agitation towards somebody that had nothing to do with that is not the way to go.

You are still young. You will learn how insidious the Marxist ideology is. I hope and pray your generation doesn't have to learn the hard way. From what I see with the current fascination with certain progressives I am not optimistic that the younger generation is as prepared to defend freedom as those who have gone before them.

It shouldn't matter how insidious it is. You should let people feel the way they feel. My generation is much more tolerant of that kind of stuff, and communism doesn't bother me at all. Based on what he said, it seems like jad simply made a misstatement of fact. Saying he is a communist is a wicked conclusion from that statement, and an unfair assumption to make.

Now, if you want to continue this discussion, we can take it to private messages, or to the political thread. But not here

Look dude, I showed you nothing but respect and tried to have a reasonable debate with you. I even said I understood where you're coming from. Feel free to hate Communism, but the minute you bring that stuff on here, people are going to call you out for it. All I'm saying is that keep that away from this place.

And calling people names is your go-to when somebody disagrees with you? You definitely aren't the only one here like that, and that's sad. We can't have rational discussions anymore
