Maybe because we don't have any pitching prospects worthy of making the roster

Here's what SoxProspects put on this year's taxi squad as a projection:

Starters

LH Kyle Hart 40

RH Bryan Mata

RH Thaddeus Ward

LH Jay Groome

Swingmen

RH Tanner Houck

LH Mike Kickham oo

RH Mike Shawaryn 40

RH Phillips Valdez 40

Being ready for a two-month sprint may be directly related to age. Since it will be vital for teams to get off to good starts, expect managers to chase early Ws, starters to insist they can go one more inning, and bullpens to be pushed to the max. Don't forget the new three-batter minimum (as well as the unusual injuries and virus risks). We may see revolving doors of relievers from a lot of 60-man rosters. The Astros and M's have each included 12 of their top pitching prospects on their 60. The world champion Nationals list 10, as do the Dodgers, while the Yankees have nine.

The Red Sox have zero... so far.

As we near the beginning of summer training camps for teams before they return to the field following the hiatus to battle the coronavirus pandemic, we know that this year's expanded rosters may provide a better chance than most seasons to get a glimpse of some of the top prospects

Sox still have 13 slots available to be filled.

But the Red Sox always win the World Series in years where the country is crippled by a pandemic...

... and then take another 86 years to win again? By 2106, my fingers may have arthritis and I won't be able to post.

So you want more pandemics?

We'll still be in this one, coughed on by generations of unmasked heirs of King Kushner and third lady Frackinmany

Keep politics out of this thread

Unfortunately, baseball, sports and everything else is affected by this pandemic. And those of us -- like you and I -- who admit to cracking jokes and not taking ourselves too seriously, are doing the best we can to deal with it. I just hope we all get a chance together soon to cheer for the Sox, root against the Yanks, and argue over who should play second and why RR left Barnes in too long or took him out too early.

That's no excuse. The rules are simple. Follow them or leave.

In just the past half year, many posts here have debated whether Bloom was hired specifically to trade Mookie and/or dump Price, whether Kennedy and O'Halloran were pretending that Boston is trying to contend, and whether Henry and Werner really wanted to keep Betts. Good luck leaving politics out of any threads, even about the Red Sox.

The title of this thread is "Red Sox Win Total." I don't see any 'rule' saying there should be no politics.

So, in a 60 game season, how many wins will it take to make the playoffs?

I am going to go with an early prediction that the Sox squeak in with 33 wins. I am basing that off of mostly nothing, just my opinion.

So, here's what I have. The Rays, the Astros, and the Twins will be the division winners. The dreaded Yankees will likely take one of the two wildcards. Who is a strong candidate to shut the Sox out of the 2nd wildcard? There are some possibilities, but no other team is a shoe in. The Sox have a very good chance of making it to postseason.

I'm sticking with 33 wins, just because I'm a happy person. :)

If this team goes 27-33 I think that would be a decent outcome! The pitching will kill us. And since we play the Wanks and Rays most of the season, our wins need to come against the O’s. Hopefully Ron can strategize and save ERod and Nate for those games 🤔

At least we'll start off 3-0! (Hopefully) LOL

But, if the Sox can somehow go 6-4 against one and 7-3 against the other (doable in a short season), it really gives them an inside track into getting into the playoffs.
