I know it won't happen, but the owners should give some of that money back to the fans by way of lower ticket prices.

I'm not trying to defend greedy owners. However, as an owner, Henry has spent plenty on payroll.

Lolololol... should? Sure. Not a chance though. No loyalty to the fans. Henry not doing it for the love of the game.

How did this thread become a Mookie thread.... Mookie is a Dodger now. Let's move on and get to what this thread is supposed to be about. Any buzz around spring training so far...... let's talk about that. Who's standing out, who is making a push, who doesn't have a chance in hell of the 40 man.

Yesterday's game was a solid one for Red Sox pitching. The only pitcher who struggled was Walden when he went back out for. a second inning. According to the WEEI radio broadcasters Walden was working on commanding a relatively new pitch for him which he kept throwing.

It was clear from listening to the two games driving to Florida that the Red Sox are trying a totally different approach to how they are handling their pitchers. Everyone makes clear that last year's approach was an utter disaster and no one is making any attempt to defend it either.

I think I saw something yesterday that Houck has pitched well. It looked like the slider was effective. Does he have enough in the tank to blow hitters away if needed? Is there any word on the recovery process of Groome... will he throw in 2020?

Most think Houck would be a good reliever. Right now, I think he would be perfect for the opener.

Houck is exactly the type of young arm with upside that past Bloom teams love to put "in the best situation where he can be successful". He makes my roster.

Also, Eovadli is the exact type of starter with elite stuff that any contenders or rebuilders always want and need (and this year, at not such an exorbitant salary). Since pitching, especially starting pitcher, is the Red Sox' biggest need, it doesn't make sense to trade that commodity -- for what, young pitching with potential to be as good as Eovaldi?

Oh sure, let's kick the dead horse a little more.

This dead horse is at least a little fresher than the HanRam/Panda post elsewhere.

What is dead may never die.

Tell that to Joe C, Rod Bradford and Tom Caron and the rest of the WEEI broadcast crew. I am just relaying what they are saying. BTW. what they were talking about was far more than resting pitchers bit rather their approach towards hitters. They were discussing that Bush's approach is a total repudiation of LaVangie's approach. Moreover it seems it is one that Bloom has encouraged.

Sometimes I wonder if some of you ever actually watch or listen to the games. Based on some of the comments it seems doubtful.

You've been proven right on it so far.

I was fine with it at the time. Some Recency Bias in there, no doubt. But I just thought for a guy with Eovaldi's stuff and his age, it wasn't an outrageous amount. We were all aware of the injury risks. I don't think anyone expected that he would have the 'loose bodies' issue again. Has any other pitcher in history who had TJS had a reoccurrence fitting that description?

I was fine with Eovaldi's contract as well. I was also fine with Sale's extension. If those two can stay healthy, and that is a big if, then their contracts would likely end up being very good deals.

Rusney is hitting .538. :D

I read that he did not run out a ball that went to the LF wall. He should have made it to 3rd, but only got to 2nd. :(

Wow that's a cutting remark.

I know it's only ST and Rusney knows he's not making the majors this year, but I have a hard time excusing lack of hustle.

There's absolutely no excuse.

Maybe he thought he hit it well enough to be a tater.

Until the umpire throws up his arm and waves you around, you run hard!

The one thing worth pointing out is that every time Rusney hustles, he injures himself...
