You can’t regroup now. Trainwreck.

Yeah there is really no way I can see this trade falling apart, keeping Mookie, and then trying to compete with him. The trade pretty much has to happen.

If I had to guess, this is the Red Sox trying to use this as leverage and either demanding: 1. Dodgers pay more of Price contract. 2. Dodgers include another prospect. I still think deal happens.

I agree. I just don't think the Sox have as much leverage as they think they have. My guess is that we still end up with the overweight one arm bandit of a pitcher with some other pile of crap thrown in to make up for his faults when in fact, two bums does not equal one functional player.

Either get some prospect filler or have Dodgers pay an extra 3-6M towards Price.

It's the guy from the Twins that is the issue.

Either they give us more or replace Graterol with someone we want, or they give Maeda back to LA (or us) and LA gives us someone else (Cartaya? Gray? I doubt we get Downs or Gonsolin)

The whole phrasing is weird about “well he’s not starter material now.”

I don't get how that was a surprise to them. Everything I looked up about the guy showed he looked like a future bullpen arm, granted he has the potential to be an elite one. But he's already had some serious injuries and there is a reason he's had innings limits.

MLBTR...

“Some involved [in the trade] are now suggesting it’s not a certainty,” MLB Network’s Jon Heyman tweets, as the holdup continues to center around the Red Sox, Twins, and Graterol’s condition. Boston is reportedly trying to “reconfigure” its end of the deal with the Twins, “meaning more than Graterol” would head from Minnesota to Fenway Park.

The Dodgers, who have won seven straight division titles with two recent trips to the World Series, would probably just walk away from the deal instead of upping the ante.

That's highly debatable. They might kind of like to have Betts and Price now, after all this. And their fans might too.

Plus they could just work out a different deal directly with us and boot the Twins.

They are already getting the shortest end of the deal, so I agree.

It's up to MN, or the Sox can just take Maeda or someone the Dodgers want equally.

I'm not sure how badly MN wants Maeda, but they know about Graterol's medical situation. If he's this risky, they wouldn't want him and should give more or replace him.

Shades of the Pom deal, although Espinoza ended up hurt, too.

I doubt it.

They could, but the Twins should have the first shot to make an adjustment, since it's their guy holding up the deal.

Talks between #MNTwins and #RedSox to resolve differences over value of right-hander Brusdar Graterol going slowly, sources tell The Athletic. One alternative is for #Dodgers to acquire prospect from another club to help bridge gap.

The Dodgers could take Graterol and give us Downs, Gonsolin, Gray, Stripling, Gray or Cartaya.

My guess is the Twins will have to eat some of Price’s contract. But I’m rooting for the trade to be nixed. I don’t want the Sox to offload Price at all. I’m hoping for a catastrophic collapse to where he’s entirely worthless and then Betts goes to LA as a FA after playing out a lost 2020 season in Boston

I also don’t want to see the Sox get a guy like Graterol or a probable stud like Verdugo

Impressive proposal.

They all have pretty similar values on the trade value site with Cartaya being the closest and the others 5-6 higher.

It appears that Bloom thinks that the Red Sox got shortchanged.

And Thankfully he does .Time to scrap it and go to Padres they may just surprise with the pain they have endured watching a rival get Mookie and the publicity it was getting .Padres May hand us a hell of a lot now .

With their deep farm system the Dodgers are better positioned to take a high-risk, high-reward prospect such as Brusdar Graterol while the Red Sox, with their thin farm system, might prefer a surer bet.

Or not.

The Padres aren't giving up a hell of a lot for Mookie, and last I've heard they want us to take Myers s*** contract and don't want Price. Dodgers have the best offer.

Actually, the reason I bring it up is because I'm not really a fan of guys who invite 17 year old runaways to their hotel rooms and do nothing (except maybe hold a video camera) while she is beaten up and sexually assaulted. And as a sports fan, I don't want guys like that on a team I follow. Now maybe you're more concerned with the economics of a baseball trade, and I don't blame you for that. You and I just don't have a whole lot in common.

You're right, we certainly don't. I don't tend to label some kid a suspected rapist repeatedly when he hasn't been suspected of anything, just because I don't like a trade. And please don't try and insinuate that I don't care about morality because of economics. Keep the snide ******** to yourself.

This would be my preferred option. Well actually, my second option. My preferred is that we sack off the Twins side of things and make Dodgers give us more back solely for Mookie.

This would be my third option. Sack off Twins, take Maeda with Verdugo and maybe a mid prospect and call it a deal.

The Red Sox and the Dodgers have the most skin in this game. Pulling back Mookie/Price at this point ain't a good idea for the Red Sox. Not getting Mookie/Price ain't a good idea for the Dodgers.

voting with your $$ is the only recourse against the billionaires. not going to games wont cut it though...you need to not watch NESN as well. that is the big hit....

I'm glad that you brought this up seriously. It is a confusing time that we live in. I'm not a billionaire so in all honesty I do not care how John henry spends his money. I think that it would be a little silly to suggest that I know anything about his budget or how he should spend his money. Society tends to bitch profusely about people with great wealth but the entertainment industry seems to get a free pass. I wonder how many people here know from experience how a billionaire or for that matter a multi millionaire views their budget? Henry has been an excellent owner for our franchise but I think that pretending to know what his Red Sox budget might be is silly. i will miss Mookie Betts fro sure. What we got for him in trade is a joke.
