Maybe we get to see the old-fashioned player-manager. Pedroia? Vazquez? Plawecki? JDM? Who's the best candidate here?

Brock Holt or Moreland since neither may be available for long stretches on the field they can focus on the analytics more

In the same vein, Eovaldi. Although he might tear a tendon typing data into an Excel spreadsheet

Stop making fun of Nathan. What are the odds he has loose bodies 3 years in a row?

Which? Me as Commish or the Sunday double header thing?

Or both, which is actually extremely likely? Although they should bring back Sunday double headers. A much better tradition worth hanging on to than hand signals...

I'm completely on board with this. If I were commissioner each team would be required to play one Sunday doubleheader a month, even with separate admissions if necessary. We could then go back to the season starting in April and ending before the last week in October.

Who ever decided that the World Series is a cold weather championship is nutso.

Nope. Eovaldi is my whipping boy.

If people can pile on Pedroia for one singular incident after his great career in Boston, I don’t see why Eovaldi and his one singular good postseason game should be immune...

There must be some typos in there or something. It makes no sense. Dewey and I AGREE on something? Right down to the reasons why?

I always figured I’d see Bigfoot pilot a UFO before I saw that...

Make that 6 good postseason games.

I'd first need to take some PDDs (Performance Detracting Drugs).

But I do agree on bringing back twinbills, if we can somehow cut games down to three hours or less... I am a traditionalist, but I'd start with a pitch-clock, and batters required to stay in the damn box. This would also help limit sign-stealing delays.

Hell, let's just start by banning velcro on batting gloves.

@Feinsand

Red Sox are still in the thick of their managerial interview process. Per source, Boston is unlikely to make a hire before next week.

guys - is this really weird to anyone else?

was there ever a team in modern baseball history that headed down to ST without a manager in place?

The Astros haven't hired one yet either.

The only difference is that the Astros are being much more public with bringing guys in. Here, it's been radio silence.

Honestly, I care far more about dealing Betts/Price at this point. I think the Sox could be fine with just running Ron Roenicke out there as interim with no bench coach for ST.

I thik the Sox are holding back to see if Roenicke is somehow tainted by the ongoing Sox sign stealing investigation. Personally, I think the Sox will be vindicated as JDM has said, no cheating was going on as far as real time sign stealing electronically and relaying to the batters.

So far, there’s been no buzz about this...

Maybe you're right (or not) but I'll leave it up to investigators who have more information than we have.

@BNightengale

The #Astros have decided on Dusty Baker to be their next manager, a perfect choice.

IK.

Astros owner Jim Crane, realizing what lies ahead, had to find the man that would best insulate the clubhouse from the outside noise, and threats, keeping them together.

He chose Baker.

Baker is a cult of personality apparently?

Note to self: remember to never listen to Bob Nightengale. You already learned this a long time ago, idiot.

@Chandler_Rome

Two sources with knowledge of the situation say there's no confirmation that the Astros will hire Dusty Baker as their manager.

@BNightengale reports Houston will choose Baker, the three-time Manager of the Year winner who has won more than 1,800 games
