I don't see how any internal candidate from the coaching staff would be seriously considered, especially those from 2018. Obviously there needs to be the semblance of a house cleaning and no way Roenicke , Febles or Goodwin could not have known what was going on. For that matter, I can only imagine that Varitek and Pedroia knew it as well. I think they will need to go to the market an get an experienced manager, not a young guy trying to make his mark. But, please not Dusty Baker, and never Showalter.

Cora had been clearly identified as the ringleader in Houston so he was gone in any case especially after Houston fired Hinch. The point is other than Cora no one connected with Boston has been public ally named. So no one knows who else has yet to be implicated.

Roenicke seems like the plausible manager, however, if he is implicated in the cheating scandal we would have to look outside the organization. Possibly the safeswt thing to do is to look outside.
