Right now, all the contending teams in the AL are losing together. So often, this happens during races. It's as if no team wants it when you wd think they wd want it the most. So, all's we got to do is buck this trend, and hopefully not start a new all-teams-win track.

The Rays scored two in the bottom of the ninth to edge the Mariners 7-6 on Wednesday.

Actually, I find this situation much more enjoyable. Now i can watch games just to see baseball--I don't have my enjoyment of that cluttered up with pissing and moaning over games-behind-leader,, playoff percentages, trade speculations, sudden DFAs, managerial second guessing. It's like watching the RedSox in the old days, when it never occurred to me they would make the WS or even make a run at it. Just baseball.

I'm in both camps - if that's possible. I don't think it's impossible that the Sox could end up with a WC berth. Unlikely, but not impossible. So I'm just sitting back, munching popcorn and enjoying the games much like I did in 2015.

Maybe it will be like ... (I forget; some time in the 80s?) ... They were .500 at the All-Star break. I kicked back, thinking how relaxing it would be to watch them trying to break even. ... Then they won 20 straight and spoiled everything!

1988 Morgan Magic!!

The Sox were basically a .500 team under John McNamara, but he was replaced mid-season by Joe morgan and the Sox promptly won 19 of Morgan's first 20 games. And everything Morgan did worked perfectly. Very early in that streak, he removed Mike Greenwell, who was the MVP runner-up that year, and replaced him with pinch runner Kevin Romine. Romine would up batting in the 9th inning of a tie game and lead off the inning with a walk off home run, his only home run of the season.

That team was amazing with their ability to just win and get key hits from everybody. It was one of the most fun regular season stretches in recent Sox history...

Hi, Buddy! I guess somebody forgot to push the re-start button.I don't get it; m om 2nd, no outs, next guy flies out. runnere moves to econd. Dugout whooppies and back slaps! Wouldn''t a sacrifice bunt be a lot easier and MUCH more likely to happen? Judgement Day moved to late night Sept. 1!

I know this was started as a serious thread, but the way the title is written makes it seem sarcastic.

God love him for what he has done and that he still has that interest. I'm approaching 80 and have shaky hands causing double stikes, so I can imagine how difficult it is for him. I hope he can hang in there and let someone help read to him and type his input. He has earned it/

I'm half his age and make typos about twice as often. (I do tons of edits and corrections.) If I even live that long, my typing (which may be a thing of the past by then) won't even resemble English.

I ignore his typos (as we all should), but I treat the content of his baseball input as I would anyone else's. And I doubt he would want it any other way...

Thank you, Notin!. It's narely 5 years since my I was spemdimg my time selling WW2 stuff (books, patches, etc) on eBay and writing 2 poetic ballads books and MY WORLD WAR 11 MEMOIRES. (Under) sold on Amazon, but fun anyway. The book was loved by about 10 people, and ignored by the rest of the world. Anyway, when you get to be 95 3/4, you'll discover, that if you have nothing to do, the end is not far away. I always need a project, and this chase to the playoffs fits in very nicely. Here is my last poe:

I live in a home full of old ladies

Like Sally and Suzy and Sadie

But, there is no rpmancin,

No pramcin' and dancin.

Hell, they're all in love with Tom Brady!

Ever see such a mess, Dewey? All that's needed is a MINN collapse and everytjong gets thrown into the wash!

What makes this so interesting, is thenot-so-remote possibilities. Like MINN collapsing!. Or the Red Sox winning 19 straight..

Only OAK plays tonight, so things will look pretty much like this until Wed. morning.

MINN-----79-51 (or-?)

CLEVE---76-55

TB--------76-56

OAK------ 74-55

SOX------70-62

Have a happy wash-day!

Nothing is impossible...... I guess lol

If MN losses every game, that means CLE wins those 6 games. They'd have to lose almost their other games.

Our only hope is MN goes 6-24 and CLE goes 8-22, because we won't even win half our next games.

As a limerick, I'd rate it somewhere between a Cashner and an Owings . It might work with a hip hop beat.

Just kidding.

There once was a poster named House

No closers for hire

So no way to rise from the mire.

Pretty good . In a limerick, the last line should rhyme with the first two.
