We just got our asses kicked by a little bit better than average team. We are SO inconsistent. One night JD goes off but nobody else. Then Bogaerts or Betts or Devers but none on the same night. Our pitching is pathetic. The fact that we didn’t make any moves is a friggin joke. Oh I’m sorry Cashner. SUCKS. He’s been absolutely terrible.

How this team let’s the rays manhandled them like this at home is just puzzling. These games haven’t even been close. The rays are not this good. Hope there’s repercussions for this lousy season.

The Rays are a lot better than you give them credit for. For one thing, they can pitch. They lead the league in ERA. They won 90 games last year. They may not be a World Series contenders but they are a decent team.

That’s no excuse for the utter lack of competitiveness in this series. You lose 3 tight games, okay. Well not okay, but you’re in the game, you have a chance. It happens. This was pathetic and it all goes back to the starting pitching.

Cora with the usual: "We have to play better"

The post game for game 162 and Cora will be saying "We have to play better"

Ok maybe i am not giving them credit but they looked like they where a dead team coming in. Sox where at an all time high after taking 3 out of 4 from the Yankees. Like you said these games where not even competitive. The rays offense looked very good and they’re not a high scoring team. This team has been too inconsistent all season and that could have been the nail in the coffin for this year.

It may be childish but getting on the bus or plane (however and whenever they head to New York), they can all carry their own luggage. You want to play like a bunch of minor leaguers, we’ll treat you like minor leaguers.

At the very least the pitching staff can do it.

I'd make the starters hitchhike, except for E-rod. I'd leave the BP in Boston, except for Workman and Barnes.

Anyone on this thread not named SplendidSplinter can initiate tomorrow's game thread. The job, as you may have noticed, has a short life span.

I will only do it if nobody has done it by game time. I am far too cynical, far too old a dog and that comes through my posts I know. So I am sure nobody really even wants me starting the game thread. Heck even I don't want me starting the game thread.

The difference is the Rays pitching goes one time through the rotation not doing well and then they start pitching good to great again and it stays that way for 4-6 weeks. The Sox go through the rotation once pitching well and then revert to s*** for 4-6 weeks.

I doubt your cynicism will have little effect on the outcome of the game. s***, if being cynical is causing the SOX to lose, most of us shouldn't be initiating game threads. Hell, if being optimistic was the deciding factor, Kimmi would have to initiate all game threads.

I actually modified my response to your post, because they all haven't been bad.

Hernandez and Taylor can go with Barnes and Workman. They’ve been up and down but they are rookies; I expect some fluctuation in their performances. They’ve at least showed flashes and could get better with some experience. The rest, no.

I haven't been excited about the SKINS since Joe Gibbs retired. Also, having the dumbest owner in the NFL doesn't help.

My Vikings friends thought Cousins was gonna be great lmao. Granted they have a bad o line but he was not good. Hahahaha. I mean I can’t talk much. Colts since their 09 Super Bowl run haven’t done jack really other than 1 conf final appearance in 10 years in which they got blown out. But they have a lot of young talent. Hopefully they play good this year. Last year was a ridiculous surprising year after the 1-5 start.

Well actually the Sox didn't get through it once pitching well, more like 60 percent through, but most of the time it's 20 percent good.

In the immortal words of the Slim Pickens, the pilot in Dr Strangelove, "Tell ya somethin’ else. If this thing turns out to be half as important as I figure it just might be, I’d say that you’re all in line for some important promotions an’ personal citations when this thing’s over with.'

So go for it.

E-Rod is going today. Cora holding a player only meeting. Hopefully we get it together.

Since Cora is not a player, how does that work?

Earl Weaver had the classic comment on team meetings.

He said he didn't believe in them because, if you have a meeting and still lose, then what do you do?
