The All Star Game Committee must be wringing their hands re/How do we get this guy here for this game. There is every reason to believe Devers will be leading the AL in at least 4 categories when October rolls arpund. Which four? Who cares,

And the AB "showtimes!"! Ordinarily, you would think of a show boat vanity. With Devers, it's so natural it never tires me out. I hate showboats, but he is as natural as the laid back David Ortiz..

The one year's improvement in all categories is something I can't come close to remembering.

Last night as midnight approached, I said, "OK, maybe one mor Devers AB. THEN I'll go to bed!

Devers is becoming the hitter everyone thought he would be. It was weird because he sucked in April. Then it just looked like a light came on and bang, he was dominant. He's got the kind of oppo power as a lefty that you don't see very often. You rarely see lefties drive the ball down the line in LF. You usually see oppo shots to LCF for lefties. His power is impressive and will only improve. While Beni has seemed to fade, Devers is coming out and I fully expect him to be a big pain in the ass for the next 4 seasons after this one. Instead of Betts, the sox might want to sit down with Devers and pull out an Acuna deal. Devers has one more year of pre-arb remaining then he will start to get expensive. Arbitration only takes into account the last 2 years of performance, so the first year they're gonna count is this one.

The scary thing about Devers is his approach at the plate and his monster power to the opposite field.

Today Rafael Devers took over the AL RBI lead!

He's also the hits leader, and tied for 1st in doubles.

Devers became the first MLB player ever to get 6 Hits and 4 Doubles in the same game!

Sale became the quickest player to reach 2,000 K's, but he's toast- according to Jacko.

Maybe let him play 2B again!

LOL

I'm pretty certain I said it in jest.......that was for all the Sandy Leon lovers on this board who swears certain members of our staff can't pitch to Vaz. If Vaz was catching the pitchers would be giving up 5 runs......oh wait....

i think Jacksonianmarch also deems that devers wouldn't even be a starter on the vaunted yankees team.....

That's cool!

I wonder how many of his 93 RBIs are Mookie Betts.

Well, he’s no Gio Urshela...

Moving Devers up in the order was one of the smartest moves Cora made this year. Sale's stamina remains in question.

Gio is a better Fielder, but Devers is a star. I actually think I called it this year in preseason. I called a .300-30-100 season for Devers

Actually Devers has a better UZR/150 than Urshela (2.3 to -4.7) this year. Urshela does have the better career mark (2.3 to -3.3).

One year samples for fielders are not always telling. Neither of these players has an extensive career. But so far, the difference in their defense is actually small.

Now opportunities can play a huge factor in defensive metrics...

Hopefully it will end up more like .320-30-120.

I can't say I called this one in preseason. I was hoping for a more modest increase to .275-25-90

Raffi needs to cool down a bit. Next thing you know we'll have a thread freaking out about whether we'll be able to extend him, who his agent is, and all that crap.

Great move by DD for letting Mocada go and keeping Devers.....he clearly knew who he wanted.

We are all back seat drivers here.

Do not rewrite the history book.

He took the job on the heels of back to back last place finishes, three out of 4 years if I'm not mistaken.

He was tasked to turn the team around.

He immediately overpaid for Price (he needed Price). He needed a closeR so he overpaid for Kimbrel (he needed Kimbrel). He'll overpay to get the players he wants and will decimate the farm if he hast to......John Henry hired him knowing what DD does.

He added Sale by trading away young talented duo in Moncada (Devers was going to be a better 3B) and Kopech (a kid I really hated to see go).

He won two division titles. He then cemented the climb back by winning third straight division title and then the World Series.

This year's team should have been playoff bound. We let two relievers go who would have ate up $22M+, which would have put us up over the very top luxury tax limit for second year in a row.

It's on the players, then the manager. You can make all kind of excuses.

I'll tell you what.

GO ASK CHRIS SALE IF HE THINKS IT'S DD'S FAULT.....YOU KNOW THE ANSWER AND CHRIS NEVER LIES.

Love to see him extended.

Team should be built around Xander and Devers.

Inside Edge corroborates with UZR. They’re essentially the same defensively...

one has a lot more chances than the other. a couple more errors for the ursuala in those missing chances puts devers out in front bigly. it is a false narrative to claim ursuala is a better fielder. but i guess that should be expected from the esteemed non troll excellent poster jacksonianmarch.

What a game for Raffy. This kid amazes often.

Most of the hits were rocket shots. Very hard hit.

He's "in the zone."

My guess is he sits today.

(Just kidding.)

RS missed their chance. Obviously should have traded him (oops, they can't), then at least DFA'd him after those 8 hits in a row, when his stock was high.
