Teams rebuilding or short of money can only consider lower priced salaries or young guys under team control. Pearce is off this list for all obvious reasons. Nunez ,likewise. Beni and Jbjr could return equivalent value. Barnes is one of the relievers you are looking ofr. Maybe Brasier too. Moreland is done from the Sox POV. Holt is worth holding onto.

I asked several weeks ago, who do you start in the play-in game, if you make it that far. It sure as hell is not Sale . Most likely David Price, with all other hands on deck, with no regards as to how the team wins a series from a pitching POV. This 2019 team is deadwood at this point.

I wonder if the team would perk up when certain players get traded. It's not just poor performance but also the attitude a player has. If he is negative, the attitude can spread to other players. Right now Beni appears to be down due to his difficulties getting hits for instance.

Chavis: .812 (with 2 big HRs vs NY that were wasted)

Marco: .792

Changes needed in field players. Second base, backup catcher, questionable outfield now may need some changes. Players like Moreland, Pearce and Nunez should be gone with a more experienced Chavis kept as a low cost alternative. Bogey, Devers should be locks. Probably Holt.

 

Might as well get hold of the budget. All the money spent is not getting results.

I like our infield of Vaz, Devers, Xander, Marco and Chavis. We have many issues with pitching staff right now but the biggest is nothing having Eovaldi available.

 

Hembree is back. Wright is back.

 

We need quality starts. We have $100M invested in our starting pitching. They got to perform, simple as that.

Agreed. We do not need to add a bat. We just need the bats that we have to do their thing more consistently. As Cora points out, they need to be able to tack on runs like they did last year.
