Ok, I guess I can excited about Chavis and his future here. Now who gets to close this out. Does anyone in that pen have any guts ? Someone else said it in last night's thread: The land of solo HR's.

I believe Chavis led the SOX in HR's during spring training. I guess we can thank Pedey for giving Chavis a shot.

Hah, Hembree gets a second take. Either win it or give up 2 HR's and go back to the hotel.

What's the odds the SOX would have a reliever in 2004 named Embree and a current reliever named Hembree?

Can't even really feel all that good about beating Toronto after the BP burnout. Glad to have the win but feel like, if that's what it takes to beat a bad team why be too concerned about the next 110 games. They aren't going anywhere. The hopes of turnaround since the April debacle are slow to materialize.

Valid but at least they won tonight. They’re fighting. A loss tonight would have been pretty bad.

I think last year the SOX won something like 32 of 38 games against the O's and the Jays, but that was last year.

Hey since a 3-8 start, this team is 23-15 (.605)

As bad as our pen was, and it could have been a lot worse, they let up 4 ERs in 7 IP.

. Last time to warm a guy up was a pitcher from Univ of Michigan, not wearing any mask. He fliped the glove for a curveball, threw a 90mph FB past my head, and I walked away, never played with the idiot again.

that is a dick move. you are lucky you still have teeth. did you bang his girlfriend or something???

Walden is the closer now? DD had better get Cora a bona fide closer, because he is not up to the challenge of working with a bullpen by Committee.

It looks like "by committee" right now. I was thinking Walden would be called in after Porcello with Workman and Barnes finishing the game, but I guess Cora had his reasons.

Also, I thought it odd they pulled Porcello after just 80 pitches, but maybe Cora is looking to keep our starters fresh all year.

the 8th inning was the key "closer" inning in last nights game. 2, 3, 4 hitters in the lineup. thats why barnes pitched it. unfortunately he gave one up.

Remember what happened when he didn't pull Porcello after 7 against the Astros?

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Exactly. It made perfect sense the way Cora did it. But the 3 guys who have been our best relievers each gave up a run.

That was the Astros. And I don't think people had much problem with sending him back out there in that game -- not with our pen. Last night was a problem. He should have stayed the course for another inning, because our pen stinks.

Walden closing the 9th in a 1 run game makes no sense.

He has a 0.81 WHIP this year. I'm fine with pitching him whenever.
