Would the Sox coaching and training staff start Sale knowing he's injured?

If

Cora has a plan, I hope he pulls it out soon.

A good way to turn it around would be to kick the crap out of the O's and Yankees.

Cora is standing by what he has done with the starters during ST. Time will tell whether it works out in the long run, but it sure is frustrating watching this team right now.

I agree that kicking the crap out of the Os and Yankees would be a good way to start.

Watch. I bet Chris Davis ends his hitless streak against us. LOL That's just the way things are going so far.

I think most of the time players are treated ethically. Not all of the time, no.

I don't think the Sox would let Sale pitch if they knew he was injured, regardless of whether he had the extension or not.

By taking Brasier deep with a ninth inning grand slam...

Davis is probably drooling at the prospect as we speak.

This ain't no Harry Potter s***. This is the Left Hand Path. If you're going to practice ritual magic on here, at least try to get the Sox a win.

We’d have to sacrifice a700 to the Lord of the Light.

Sorry. Full blown Game of Thrones mode here...

Oh geez.

If that happened I might have to quit baseball.

I feel bad for the guy, and I don't even much like him.

That said, that doesn't mean I want him to end his streak against us.

That is what we do around here.

It's all we can do at this point.... Part of me thought I was silly for thinking Sale would be playing hurt when he was throwing good in the first two innings against the Jays. He even had a 95 m fastball..... but once those two innings ended I was starting to have my doubts again.

A sacrifice we can all get on board with.

If that’s the case, our GM/President is an idiot...

I don't see how you come to this conclusion. Our GM/President does not necessarily keep tabs on the physical condition of every player nor how it might impact their performance. Not everything related to the physical aspect of athletic performance is clear cut.

Unfortunately, this wasn't too far off. :(

Also, Lourdes Gurriel was demoted today. Gurriel was all over the place in two games against Boston, going 3 for 6 with a steal of home. Against everyone else, however, he was 4 for 33 (.121)

I don't think the current group would continue to send Sale out there if he were truly hurt.

This isn't the 1999-2000 group (Joe Kerrigan) that continued to send Pedro out there, even though they knew he had a shaved shoulder tear, and was throwing 87 MPH.

I wonder if Chris Sale is going to be reserved for big time games. So far, he's started the opening season game, the home opener, and tomorrow he starts the first game of the season vs the Yankees. His next will probably the opening home game next Monday vs Detroit. So far, his fill-ins are 0-2.

We won that bullpen game 1-0 vs. Arizona when Sale was pushed back for the home opener.

I keep reading the title of this thread and want to chime in on it, maybe because I can be a bit of a dork at times.

If the question is, "Would the Sox coaching and training staff.... " then IMO the answer is a resounding YES, they would, but only in the right situation.

However, if the real question is, "Did the Sox coaching and training staff.... " then IMO the answer is NO, they didn't. They have too much tied up in his arm now to do anything that stupid. However, if this were the last game of the WS and/or his last start in a Sox uniform, yeah, I think he'd be sent out there.

Kimmi this is funny....but NOT funny....

Well, we didn't revive any lost souls in the playoffs last year.

I'm beginning to think we need to play the Yankees and the Rays.

That'll get the team fired up.

Sounds like the Celts waiting on the playoffs for a chance to finally show that they really do have the best team in the East.

I have not given up on Chris Sale.

Today in my fantasy league, I offered the retainable $4 contract of Pete Alonso and the retainable $1 contract of Brandon Woodruff for the expiring $47 contract of Chris Sale and the retainable $2 contract of Rafael Devers.

My offer was promptly rejected.

So, you are giving up on your 2019 team.

So, you are giving up on your 2019 team.

Not as long as my team has a comfortable lead behind the (mostly) fast starts of Cody Bellinger, Pete Alonso, Edwin Encarnacion, Daniel Vogelbach and Joey Gallo, who are all eligible at first base.:)
