You mean like you did on page 389 of the Realistic Look” thread?

In my defense (pun intended), I said 'might'. I won't even say that now. ;)

That thread only has 294 pages for me. Anyone else who uses a different amount of posts per page is wrong.

Red Sox Stats‏ @redsoxstats

Devers made 68% of routine plays as a rookie, he made 70% last season, he is making 76% this season. League average 3B makes 72%. His range is excellent. He's been -1 defensive run this season, so league average. People that want to move him off 3B are legitimately dumb.

So he has improved.

Cool.

"It's one play with Devers, on one step to his left plays his hands are locking up, working on it every day with Febles. Everything else is better than last year."

good to hear. He looks better this year, even though the E numbers remain high.

It's cherry-pickin' time!

Last 10 games:

15 hits

5 walks

.985 OPS

My issue with Devers was never offense.

That said, this is a Launch Angle League now. And with this emphasis on hitting fly balls and nothing but fly balls has lead not only to strikeout records for the league, but also a reduced need for infield defense...

Devers only has one long ball. He's being doing it with singles and doubles.

If Dick Stuart could start for the RS, I have no problem with Devers.

I don’t know if Stuart could start anymore, but I do think he could still outhit some people on the Sox bench...

Notin is still here.

I never insisted he be traded but instead pointed out depth made him the Sox most tradable commodity. Big difference...

Maybe Chavis has a high trade stock value, now. Should we trade him, since Devers is the better 3B fielder?

And if I recall correctly (and on most things, I do not), his fielding wasn't as bad as his fielding reputation. I think he likely welcomed the fame his presumably horrendous fielding won him.

[Just checked the NYT obit, which seems to confirm this: 'Power hitting evidently came easily to Stuart. But he worked at his fielding, and at times did well. After a banner year in 1961 he said: ''Isn't it odd? A guy bats .301 and has 35 homers. Then everybody starts to tell him what a good fielder he has become.''']

Nah. Play Chavis at 2b.

This whole launch angle strategy has me re-thinking the value of infield defense...

You said Devers was basically easy to replace. You brought up Dalbec as a minor leaguer who could easily replace him. You consider Devers' defense a detriment to the team. Sounds like you want Devers replaced, one way or another.

Well, I said Devers would be the only player the Sox could replace internally that had any trade value, and it helped that Cora was infatuated with Dalbec’s defense.

Is there another player who’s worth anything in a trade the Sox could replace from within more easily?

Me too .But we can pull for our guys now right ? I mean listen if we are talking best Athlete maybe ever at Catcher Swihart might be on that Podium but he's gone .Why ? I never will understand it .But Sandy must handle the staff now and I'm pulling for this kid hard now .I pop into most Dbacks games to see if Swihart is given a chance and boom today he did .Great Moment .We can pull for both these guys man .I find you and Moon to be highly passionate for this team .see that and move forward .

And Swihart still isn’t catching, on a team with one of the worst catching situations in league. He wouldn’t be helping Red Sox by playing a corner OF position.

Ghost , Many on here do not pull for a player who is gone . They want him to fail . They want to justify their opinion. Swihart is gone , but he will continue to be kicked .

That's true. But the flip side also happens. Fans pointing out former Red Sox players who are doing well, and complaining about them being let go instead of Player X who was kept instead.

Sports fans are miserable, hateful pricks, generally speaking.

Not me . I always try to be objective. The voice of reason , if you will . Probably too old school , but reasonable nonetheless.

You are pretty reasonable, Denny.
