I plan on proliferating the “mvp78 is a slimy lawyer” mantra...

CPA's are the salt of the earth. Our daughter married one. And our 501©3 depends on one.

What does your 501©3 do?

Chavis should hopefully get the bulk of the at bats and become our 2B for a the next 5+ years.

He'll never be a plus on defense at 2B.

I'd like him to DH after JD leaves.

Anyone think the Sox should try to bring Gio in since Eovaldi is out?

Not a big Gio Gonzalez fan, but a minor league deal with or without an opt out would be fine with me...

JD won’t be leaving for a while. Even if he opts out, the Sox will re-sign him. No one else was very interested in him last year when he was coming off a career best season, and he’s probably Dombrowski’s biggest success as a reclamation project...

Gio is gonna get a big league deal

Considering every team has avoided him to date, what makes you so sure?

Well, if JBJ leaves after 2020 (of if traded earlier), we may play JD in the OF and Chavis at DH or 1B.

Maybe. Or 1b if Moreland doesn’t come back. Or 2b if he isn’t a complete disaster defensively.

Or DD will flat out trade him for a CF to replace Bradley...

He doesn’t want to pitch for cheap. His deal with the Yankees was never gonna get him to the majors. It could have been worth up to $12 mil. He’s gonna have to realize that he’s an aging pitcher who can be at most an effective 4 in a rotation and accept the pay for that position

He’s also going to have to do better than a 6.00 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in AAA ball if he wants to avoid pitching for cheap money...

Our offense was handled by the Tiger pitching today. Except for Bogaerts, the offense was pretty flat. I don't think we can afford to have as many unproductive bats in the lineup. JBJ, Leon, Nunez this year, Holt this year, and Pedey this year all have been sub par to date. We are not very flexible being up against the competitive second tier cap and having little in the way of exceptionsl young offensive players in the minors. Lets hope that we can get our better hitters going. Betts shows signs, Devers can help a lot, but we are depending on 2/3rds of the lineup for the majority of our offense.

Maybe they sent him out to do some work with the coaches and the footwork was there. Let's face it, with the new wussie rule, second basement don't have to do a lot of acrobatics around the bag. If Vasquez, could handle it, I guess that they thought a real IFer could handle it. It was about getting a better bat in the lineup. He was just fine in the field.

Chavis might be able to handle the job just fine. I'm not saying he can't.

You posters just love reading into everything. I just don’t get worked up over quotes in the paper that come out of context.

Yes, we posters do.

It's what we do here.

Depends on what he's willing to sign for.

I'd offer him a minor league contract. Being as he just opted out of one, I'm not sure he'd be willing to sign another.

Maybe even a min ML contract with incentives.

To state the obvious, our offense is not doing enough to win games and is almost as big a problem as our pitching. The first game we faced good pitching and our offense had issues with Bogaets providing most of our offensive threat. Colten was our Achillies heel.

In the second game each of our table setters were each on base three times and our Newbie had two hits, includiing a HR and yet we were only able to score 2. JBJ was 0 for as usual. We need a spark from somewhere else in the lineup and are not getting it. The good work done in Tampa is largely undone and we had better watch out or we will go into May in the cellar.

Yes, which is code for 'panic'.

I would argue with your use of the word panic, more on a linguistic level than anything. I don't think a decisional flip-flop necessarily equates to panic. It certainly indicates some disorder in the process. But to me panic is a bit more extreme, it's people running out of a building that just caught fire.

It's pretty crazy that the World Champs and 119 game winners are 24 games in and have not had one easy win yet.

Target is on your back now. Everybody gets up for the defending world champs

Eh. Do they even need to?

We’re getting throttled by tanking teams...

I would question a couple of moves Cora made last night . Pinch hitting Pearce for Devers . Pearce has been looking absolutely lost at the plate . Leaving Lakins in . Should have used Barnes and tried to keep it a one run game . As it turned out , one run would have been enough , but you don't know that at the time .

Pearce has hit lefties well throughout his career. It's a totally defensible move. He's not going to hit .133 all year.
