If it was about Leon, Dombrowski should be on the hot seat.

But I think this is about Cora’s complete lack of preparation in ST...

I think it could be a combination of both. Mostly, I think it's that the team was just not ready to start the season.

That said, having a veteran catcher like Leon behind the plate could make some difference with struggling pitchers.

It's nice to know that we have Leon, should things not improve soon. However, the team chose Swihart and they need to be committed to giving him a real chance. If they pull the plug on him again after a few games like they did before, the team will never know what his true potential is.

I'm a Leon fan, but Swihart needs to be given a true chance. He could wind up being very good.

...but somewhere in Red Sox Nation someone is happy to see how well Swihart is doing, and saying, "I told you so..."

The implication that I get based on your posts is that yes indeedy that if Sandy leon was behind the plate then our pitching staff would be doing substantially better than they are currently doing. That is your opinion and that is ok. You obviously are able to find statistics to support your view. I have no interest in doing that but my opinion is that Leon's importance to the pitching staff's competency has been way over blown. That is my opinion. I like Sandy Leon too and we may well see him again but if Swihart continues to hit it will be at Vazqueth's expense. Please Moon, don't go on a rant telling me how important catching defense is - i really do understand the game of baseball. There is also not one iota of "I told you so" in me. If the men in charge truly felt that Leon's absence was the cause of our starting rotation doing so poorly, they would know that by now even and he would be back!

In my view , there has been a smug complacency and self satisfaction throughout the entire organization ever since they put the duck boats away . We are seeing the results of it . We are fortunate that the Yankees have not gotten off to a good start .Hopefully, the debacle we are watching tonight is rock bottom and serves as a wake up call . Hopefully, they will get back home and turn things around before it gets any worse . It goes without saying that there is a lot of talent on this club .

The Rays may be a bigger concern than the Yankees. They have pitching.

The complacency started with Dombrowski, who decided the team would be just as good with Colten Brewer replacing Kimbrel...

And yet, the BP is not the reason why we have lost any of these games.

It's not complacency when you have a team where there is very little room for improvement to begin with. The Sox did enough this offseason. Our biggest need was a starting pitcher, and we signed Eovaldi.

Now, is there some complacency with Cora and his spring training philosophy? Maybe. But I trust what Cora is doing.

Either way, I don't see the complacency in terms of Dombrowski and the offseason moves or lack thereof. You don't make moves just for the sake of making moves.

But the bullpen has been no issue, so I see no reason to attribute any of this to Dombrowski at this point.

100% agree. And I say this as someone who is not the biggest Dombrowski fan.

The Yanks staff ERA currently sits at 2.71 which is 4th in the AL

Aaron Judge has 14 K's in 7 games, including 2 Golden Sombreros. That puts him on pace for 46 Golden Sombreros this year. :D

Looks like the Sox will have the worst run differential in history, and Aaron Judge will obliterate the strikeout record.

And 324 strikeouts. That’s a Nolan Ryan type strikeout season...

But I thought you said the catcher wasn't responsible for the sequence of pitches.

You flip flop so much it's hard to keep track.

I'm done responding to you. You keep putting words in my mouth I never said or even came close to hinting at.

Bye.

I expected a possible 0.30 to 0.80 ERA differential between Leon and Swihart & Leon and Vaz with maybe a high of 1.00- maybe a little more during the learning curve period.

To be clear, in no way do I blame not having Leon for 7 to 12 run differentials.

That being said, I wish we never messed with what we had going.

I've never tried to claim I know more than you or others, and I have said over and over that our poor start is NOT because Leon is not here.

I do think catcher defense and pitcher comfort level is more important than many here do, and perhaps I "rant" about it more than it deserves to be discussed, but that's because I think the concept is "under blown."

And when you call him moonslob or moonslobber, you think that's perfectly normal and acceptable board conduct too, huh?

In any case, all three of our catchers are better defensively than Sanchez. If the defense starts with the catcher, than we have the best in the business (now in Pawtucket) and the Yanks must have one of the worst. Advantage Sox.

As to our relief pitchers at least coming through, well last evening they did not--or he, Brian Johnson, did not.

Yes, given the amount of insults hurled at me (yourself included) I think it's fine.

Your shots at moonslav were unprovoked. It doesn't surprise me you don't see the difference.

We just won the WS guys. Everything is going to be alright. We won’t suck like this all season long. This is a 6-month-season sport which is played almost everyday. Our team is so talented. Maybe I’m this optimistic or relaxed because I’m in Tulum with a spectacular view of the beach while drinking a couple of beers and tequila... but still guys LOL!

Also we are the goddamn champions and the best franchise in the last 30 years for God’s sake! don’t forget that!

Incorrect, bellhop.

But you have grown accustomed to being wrong.

But back to baseball. What's the worst record to begin a season for a defending WS champion?

Maybe I missed it, but I saw no comment of why Holt went on the IL (eye?) and what move has been made as a result. Will Pedroia be brought back ahead of schedule?

Umm, the Yanks have both the better record and more championships over the last 30 yrs.

Yes , it was the eye . Lin has been brought up . No word on Pedroia.

The bullpen is not a factor when your starters take you out of the game early on . The test for the pen will come when the starters settle in and we start getting into a lot of close games . For whatever reason , the team in general has stunk on this early season road trip. Hopefully, some home cooking will straighten things out . But I still think that the offseason was not too good . Standing pat is seldom a good idea . Overconfidence and complacency is never a good thing .

Just ignore him. He lacks basic comprehension, understanding and logic skills.
