Just an abject disaster.

I think NY sports radio is going to tear Boone apart tomorrow for bringing in L.Lynn in that spot.

And the whole Severino thing -- warm up time -- is going to turn into a major controversy. Perhaps someone will initiate a Congressional investigation into the matter.

Eovaldi has been great against the Yankees. Tonight he was terrific.

When Dombrowski was trading for Eovaldi, Cashman was busy trading for Z.Britton. Cashman trades for Happ and Lynn. Happ gets the loss for game one. Lynn falls down while delivering a pitch with bases loaded in game 3.

Can you be a worse conditioned athlete than Lance Lynn? He is an active baseball player and yet he has the gut of someone who sits at his desk all day eating pizza and drinking soda.

It will be especially delicious if the Sox put the nail in the coffin in NY.I so enjoy seeing 55,000 miserable faces.

Call it the Shilling Effect.

Brock Holt is my hero.

Such a great game to watch after Saturday nights disappointment, hopefully the offense continues to roll tomorrow

Agreed, just a serious level of mismanagement from the get go. Now, I doubt the warmup time actually mattered, but it shows poor form. The third inning showed an utter lack of preparedness. His first three innings weren’t clean and showed a drop in velocity and location. His fourth inning starts with two runners on and he gets Lance Lynn up? Why get a starter up when you have a shut down pen? It’s not like we are going to burn a guy for game 4 if we use him to bail out Sevy. If he felt we needed to go to a starter, go to the guy at the jump of an inning. And why get Lynn up when the third batter of the inning eats him alive? He couldn’t bring him in vs JBJ because JBJ was something like 6 for 8 off him with 2 jacks. Just piss poor managing. You run Sevy out there in the fourth. He puts two guys on and you pull him for Britton, who kills lefties and also generates a ton of grounders. Then if you have a hankering for Lynn, start him off in the 4th. We likely weren’t going to win either way, but that’s how you leave the 4th down 3-0 and not 10-0. Just criminally out coached.

I really am wondering about this whole warm up thing, I read a poster on another board who was at the game and he said Severino definitely was warming up 20 minutes before the game. We were all wondering which Eovaldi was going to show up last night, clearly it was Good Eovaldi and he was the #1 star last night. I had posted earlier in the year when he was hitting .240 that I was a Brock Holt fan, you need guys like that on your team. Great to see him have such a tremendous evening both ways.

God I love this team. They can go deep, they can string together hit after hit and they can also end up on 2nd and 3rd on a bloop single to left with great base running.

The other thing he needed to do was consider pulling Sevy at the jump of the fourth. Not sure why he goes to him to “get one more inning” when we can stack guys from the 4th on and close out a game.

I think you got yourself a doofus there, Jackson. He's been making odd pitching decisions all year.

At one point I thought he was going to fall down. Wait, he DID actually fall down, what am I talking about? Haha

Boone must’ve been going by Lynn’s last performance against the Sox. A performance that I was a little surprised by and thought was more of an anomaly than anything. Gotta admit, when I heard Lynn was warming up I turned very optimistic for what was to come.

It aint over yet though. Yanks have a chance to respond. From a Sox fan perspective, I was just happy to see us hit the ball like I know we can in a playoff pressure filled game.

Boone's mistakes weren't as obvious as girardi's non-challenge last postseason but they were certainly just as egregious. After that game girardi apologized to the team and they rallied back to win the series. What is Boone going to do? My guess is he's locked himself in his office and is watching his walkoff ALCS HR vs Boston on repeat.

Sorry, but to me it's hard to blame a score of 16-1 on the manager. This was in fact the third straight game in this ALDS in which the team with the better starter won, pure and simple. It also ignores the effectiveness of Eovaldo in shutting down the Yankees lineup. These are the guys who set the MLB record for dingers in a season and who were playing in the most hitter-friendly park in MLB. Boone might have kept things closer, but this was a debacle from the beginning.

Yeah, the egregious non challenge was bad. But I cannot understand going to Lynn with the bags packed and a rested shutdown pen. I don’t get it. I also don’t know how you give Sevy that much rope in the 4th. Now, I’m not going to say we lost because of Boone, unlike Girardi’s gaffe where we clearly lost due to his incompetence, but Boone’s inept decision making effectively took a close game and blew it open.

Vaz always catches Porcello. Cora is not messing with chemistry at this point.

Plus, Vaz is looking sharp at bat, too!

Porcello naturally throws to the bottom of the strike zone on the outer black to RH hitters. Evo doesn't and Vaz kept targeting him from the waist to the thigh on the outer black which is the worst place to target for the Yankee RH hitters. They want to see the ball there. Finally in the later innings Vaz started leading Evo to the bottom of the strike zone on the outer black. The Yankee RH hitters can't do anything with that pitch. You pound them inside and when you go back outside you make them stretch to hit the ball.

So if I had to guess, Vaz should be fine catching Porcello because Porcello's pitches naturally go to the bottom of the strike zone when he is pitching on the outer black to RH hitters and Vaz helps us in the batting order. I would start Holt as well. He is on fire and CC scares nobody off the plate at this point in his career.

Biggest concern for the Tuesday game is CC's ability to put up 4 straight goose eggs and leave the game for the pen. He is quite capable of that if he can locate and change speeds with everything which is what he does when he is on. Can't do it for more than 4-5 innings tops. But with that pen, that is all they want out of CC anyway.

I had to chuckle last night when the announcers were saying that CC is watching every pitch, watching the alignment of his fielders, etc., while they showed him sitting in the dugout with his head down spitting into a cup. :D

Not sure what has been worse, the announcers or that 1st base ump!!

What a great game! So grateful I was able to go to bed early enough to be functioning today at work. I have tomorrow off, so I'm all in tonight. Let's finish it off! The power of Big Dick Rick compels us

But I'll bet you loved the ESPN Sunday night games with ARod salivating all over the Yankees, right? You never saw ARod standing because the big wet spot in the front of his pants would have been too embarrassing.

Angel Hernandez tho... He's the home plate ump today.

Robot umps now.

And there were some crazy bad calls by last night's home plate ump too, according to the Gameday box.

Just robo call balls and strikes and plays at 1B. It will legitimize the game and make it go faster. There will also be less arguing and manager ejections.

If the Yankees and Red Sox has taught me anything it’s that one game to the next means s***. Was quite a beat down last night but I’ve seen this before. All for the Yankees to come back the next day and spank us. Should be a good game tonight.

Yes, I remember the time we lost 19-8 to go down 3-0 to the Yanks in 2004...

Momentum can change on a dime.
