Maybe it would be an idea to score some runs first before worrying who is pitching with a 3 run lead. And scoring starts with Betts getting 2 or 3 hits and a stolen base in front of JDM.

I would not bring Porcello into game 3 if Evo is not getting it done. We need to win one in NY to get it back to Fenway. Porcello has to start either game 3 or game 4. If he is not going to start game 3 he has to start game 4.
Would you go to Price?

Would you go to Price?

I would. Porcello has to pitch tomorrow. Price did well in relief last year. However, if he falls on his face in relief, maybe, due to shame, he'll exercise his opt out clause and the SOX can be rid of him. I highly doubt he'll opt out of his contract no matter what. For most of these guys it's all about the money. They have no shame. But they do have beards.

Your up 2 or 3 runs you absolutely go for the win at all cost. Worry about next game, next day. You get up 2-1 on the Yanks, the pressure is on the Yanks, even though they are at home.

As you said, it's all hands on deck. If we need to use Porcello to try to save a win, then we use Porcello. We worry about Game 4 when we get there.

The other thing Cora needs to do is cut bait early if need be. If the yanks put a 5 spot up early, Cora needs to avoid burning out his guys for game 4. You need to win a single game in YS. Doesn’t have to be game 3

A 5 run lead early is not insurmountable.

It doesn’t need to be all hands on deck yet. This isn’t an elimination game. Why go giving away game 4 in order to clinch game 3?

It's close enough to an elimination game that, IMO, it's all hands on deck. If you have a chance to win today's game, you go for it.

Sale can pitch Game 4 on short rest, if needed.

We need a Gem tonight from Nathan, as far as I'm concerned, starts there. He can do it too.

!!!! - and boy did he ever pitch a gem. A real Yankee killer this guy. Young guy - rebuilt arm - keep him.

Yeah, it really would be nice if we could.

Nathan has greatly increased his value this year, especially to the Sox.

And really, to every team.

A great post-season for Eovaldi (which he is off to a good start on) increases his value overall to every team and makes him that much more difficult to re-sign...

The very definition of a two-edged sword.

Given his health history, it would not be a surprise of the Sox passed on him...

i guess this was the right call.

now a fully rested big dik tonight.

I'm excited about Porcello getting the chance to close out the Yanks. It won't be easy, but after watching Eovaldi step up last night, I'm hopeful Porcello does as well.

Most importantly - Eovaldi kept the bullpen fresh so Cora can manage the staff aggressively today with an off day

Eo throws harder than Porcello. In fact he throws much harder than Porcello. But Porcello's opportunity to succeed comes with how naturally his pitches gravitate to up and in or away at the bottom of the strike zone. So I was not pleased with Vaz's targets last night. He looked like he was on the way to an Erod/Vaz Yankee Stadium copy which was IMO the worst battery performance of the year...maybe the worst I have seen in a few years. Eddie only went 3.2 innings in a game we eventually won 11-6.

Eo did not get stung by the pitches he threw to cosmically stupid Vaz targets and eventually Eo led Vaz to where he wanted to throw the ball not the other way round. Vaz in the later innings started targeting at the bottom of the strike zone on the outer black, not at the hitter's thighs as those are the balls the RH hitters just doink right over that RF wall.

So I love throwing our RH pitchers in Yankee stadium. Never would have even considered using Porcello in relief last night as using our two RH starters in only one game would have been ridiculous. Porcello controlling that lineup will depend on whether his pitches go where they naturally tend to fall to the RH hitters....FB up....2 seam FB in.....Sinker to the bottom of the zone, Slider down and away.

Just trust your pitches Rick.

Almost the exact opposite of Sale with Leon. Sale never shakes off a sign.

IMO, re-signing Eovaldi would take precedence over re-signing Kimbrel. But you're right, his stock has risen. I think he will be priced out of what the Sox would like to give him.

How many Porcellos will be hit tonight?

I say 2.

Right, one by Betts and one by JDM. A Porcello can also be known as a C.C. when it goes for us. Vazquez needs to target low or Rick P should ignore him.

Not only do I agree, but I wanted Kimbrel drawn and quartered, at one point last night.

This makes me feel good since you were "confident" in price.........

where you at bruh?

i guess we can look forward to seeing you if/when the Sox take an L in an ALCS game......

Eovaldi made himself a ton of money in this series. You also have to remember that he hasn’t had a big contract yet. This is his chance to cash in and he will. He’s gonna get a lot of money on the open market. The Sox could use him as a Yankee killer, but he’s gonna get a big contract from someone who thinks he can lead a rotation
