With as well as Oakland has been playing and as mediocre as both Houston and the Yanks have been playing, it is possible any two of those three could be in the wildcard game. My question is who would be most beneficial for the Sox to play in the first round of the playoffs? The Sox have played all three pretty close but right now, I would prefer they play the yanks.

As the wise Yogi once said "It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future".

I’m sure you’d love to face the Yankees now. When Judge and Sanchez return, maybe not

A broken wristed power hitter, a .188 hitting, unmotivated, sucker punching, punk catcher, a wife beating closer that can't find the plate, a fat ass, poorly conditioned starting pitcher that can't field his position without an oxygen tank, and another broken down power hitter that they are afraid of using in the field. Other than Gregorious, there's not much to be "euphorious" about.

I think I would love to see Houston and Verlander beat NY in the play-in game. That would be worth the Houston draw for us, and would keep V out of the early going. But I think the Yanks will play Oakland or Seattle, and that we have about a 75% chance of facing the Yanks in the semi-finals.

As of now, in terms of who I think the Sox would have the easiest time beating, I would rather face the Yankees than either the Astros or the Athletics.

That said, I prefer the Yankees get eliminated in the wildcard game, so my next choice would be the Athletics.

The Astros will be getting key players back from the DL before October rolls around.

I fear them and their starters more than any other team (on paper).

Getting out of the AL will be tough no matter who we face.

Yes.

The Sox are way ahead of pace to reach their best record ever.

The Yanks are very tough and still have the second best record in MLB.

The Astros are the defending champs and have the 3rd best record in MLB.

The A's are the hottest team over the past 2-3 months. They have the 4th best record in MLB.

Even the Mariners have more wins than any NL team (tied at 70 with the Cubs).

The Guardians would be in 1st place in 2 of the NL divisions.

The top 6 AL teams are very strong. We have 6 of the top 7 teams in MLB.

I think the Rays, Twins and Angels would have much better records, if they played in the NL.

Disagree. I'd rather face the sox than the stros

The Sox are leading in almost every offensive category and your pitching staff is shaky. Why would you want Boston over Houston, especially considering the Yankees record against both teams this year? Not to mention the fact that you took Houston to 7 games last year?

Houston has some very key players on the DL. They will all be back by September.

The Yanks struggle against the Astros' starters not really ours.

When was the last time the Astros pummeled you with a 4 game sweep?

Because the Astros have knocked us out of the playoffs the last two times we got there. Last year, we were outclassed in Houston and would have to play them without home field again.

Outside of Sale, this Yankee team when healthy can beat your other starters. The Astros have Verlander and Keuchel who typically dominate us as well as Morton and Cole who have dominated us in the recent past. They also acquired Osuna, who we don’t hit at all. I want none of that club. It clearly looks like the A’s will be playing us in the play in and the winner will face the Sox. After that, I hope the Guardians can pull a rabbit out against Houston

The A's are only 1 back of the Stros now after being 11.5 back at one point. If the A's momentum continues you're facing the Stros.

So true. And even if there were an apparent 'lopsided' match up, there is no predicting what will happen in a postseason series.
