From Pete Abram’s tweet.

NESN just announced that Jerry Remy has again been diagnosed with cancer.

Network says "Jerry's focus is on his medical treatment."

One of the very sad facts about many cancers is that when a mature person gets the disease, it almost always recurs, sometimes multiple times. I enjoy listening to Remy on the NESN broadcast as he brings a mid level former players perspective, and a quirky but seemingly kind soul's approach to life.

His cancer combined with his son's major criminal issues dealt Jerry two tough hands later in his life. I think this incredible season wherever it leads was a big enjoyment for him to be involved with.

Over the weekend we had OB, Remy, and Eck in the booth at the same time. The first time was f***ing hysterical. It could only have been more fun if Orsilo had been there.

Remy has been a huge part of my baseball enjoyment for decades.

I don't like to think about games without him.

I hope for the best for him.

Not true at all. Early detection is key with all cancer. New treatments are out there, but there’s no better treatment than catching it early and cutting it out before it can spread.

Just hearing it for the first time on the broadcast. Terrible news. I love Jerry's musings. Fingers crossed he can beat it again.

Your *******s in NY have a clubhouse cancer, better cut it out now. You are so f***ing wrong you must have gotten your medical degree at a Holiday Inn Express

Jerry Remy was the second baseman I always wished that I could have been. Local kid made good! An endearing, humble, fun loving man in the booth. He'll beat this again.

I hope it isn't too horrible to say that I wish the best for Jerry's recovery and am also excited about the possibility of seeing more Eck in the booth.

Eck works when he wants to.

What this means is more Lyons and Gomes.

You're crazy. Gomes is way better than Lyons. Lyons is like finger nails on a chalkboard. Gomes is like drinking sleepytime tea.

I have no problem with Gomes at all.

Beats the s*** out of Mendoza and her ilk.

Gomes got better as he went along. He has good insights and as he loosened up, his dry sense of humor surfaced more.

i don’t think anyone can take listening to Mendoza and that ESPN Sunday night crew. Unfortunately, the revival of the Red Sox - Yankees rivalry gave ESPN huge ratings. There should be a way to measure how many people turn off the sound. I would rather listen to John Sterling if the Yankees. He is so dopey that it is comical. ESPN is just painful.
