It really didn't seem like an honest question. For the record, I definitely want to face the NYY in the ALCS. Still, if the Yankees face the Mariners, I would LMFAO if the M's beat the Yankees.

Of course, ANYBODY in their Right mind would be nervous facing the Yankees, but we ALL relish the thought of beating the best. I want the Yankees to be the best in the MLB, & then I want to beat them in the ALCS.

Still, I would LOL if they were beaten by the M's in a 1 off, or any series for that matter.... ALDS....

How would a Yankee fan feel if the Mariners beat the Red Sox in the Wild Card game?

I want another Sox-Yanks ALCS. The only way for that to happen, though, is for the ALE top seed to be the 2 or 3 seed. Previously, two teams from the same division could not square off in the ALDS. Since the 5th team was added, that provision was removed. It’s very possible the Sox and Yanks play in the ALDS

Ideal victory would be 4 game sweep of the Sox in the ALCS. But I'd still find joy if they lost in the WC.

The only way the teams meet in the ALCS is if one team is the Wild Card and the other is the #2 or #3 seed...

It was only a few weeks ago that Jacko thought the Sox would barely nab a WC spot. Now he’s worried about a tie!

I don't think he thinks we're a better team now, I think he thinks the Yankees are falling apart. I call it the Sonny Gray Paradigm

Is that the “he’s an ace until he isn’t” gimmick?

As mentioned by others, the September schedule is difficult including series with the Braves, Astros, Guardians, and 6 games with NYY, all likely playoff teams . But prior to the final 3 games with NY at Fenway, there is a 3 game set with the Orioles and a day off. Therefore and depending on what the standings are, Cora can reset the pitching rotation to lineup the best 3 vs NY, obviously including Sale and Porcello. The question will be if Price is in that mix for a critical game vs. NY

Sox also have Jays and White Sox in September, but overall it will be a tough finish line to reach leading the AL East.

This is why the Sox need to take advantage of these s***** teams, like Kansas City and beat up on them.

Earlier this week a Seattle radio broadcaster commented that if the Mariners capture a distant second Wild Card slot by a confortable margin, as projected, a down-to-the-wire race in the AL East would help the M’s because the club could give its starters more rest than could the Wild Card entrant from the AL East.

This is absolutely correct.

My hope is that the As mount a serious charge and make the Ms work for it.

If the Red Sox and Mariners swapped divisions, would the M’s prefer to play the Yankees over the Astros, the Rays over the Athletics, the Blue Jays over the Angels and the Orioles over the Rangers?

Bear in mind that the bottom three teams in the AL East are currently a combined 44 games below .500 while the bottom three AL West teams are a combined 1 game under .500.

You have a fair point Harmony.

In terms of the top two teams, no other division rivals the AL East. Not even close. I think that's where most of the disagreement with you stems from.

In terms of the bottom 3 teams, it is fair to say that the AL West is stronger than the AL East.

To add to the strength of remaining schedule that I posted elsewhere, the Ms have a tougher schedule (.515) than either the Sox (.501) or the lucky Yankees (.475).

I go back and forth about whether I want to face the Yankees in the ALCS. Beating them in the ALCS would be the sweetest kind of victory possible. OTOH, losing to them would be the toughest kind of heartbreak to deal with.

Honestly, I would prefer that they are nowhere near the playoffs. With that not being a option this year, I hope they are eliminated in the WC game.

The Astros might take their foot of the proverbial gas pedal due to their comfortable lead...

That is a very valid point.

So basically like the other poster you are admitting to being scared of them......

It has nothing to do with fear and everything to do with disdain.

f***ing awesome. want to have balanced schedule? i would love for those bitches from seattle to have to come to the big bad east and play the Sox and Yanks 18 times per season. have at it.....

Stated differently, the unbalanced schedule favors the Red Sox and Yankees, who get about 18 games this year against the Rays, Blue Jays and Orioles, who today are a combined 47 games below .500.

The unbalanced schedule disfavors the Astros and Mariners, who get about 18 games this year against the Athletics, Angels and Rangers, who today are a combined even .500.

That stark disparity impacts the difference in the win totals of the Red Sox and Yankees, who are a combined 62 games above .500, and the win totals of the Astros and Mariners, who are a combined 53 games above .500.

All I wrote on this thread on Friday was: "The win disparity can be explained in part by the Red Sox and Yankees playing in a less competitive division than the Mariners and Astros."

Wouldn't the Astros be playing for the home-field advantage through the postseason?

Or do you anticipate fades by the Red Sox and Yankees?

What are the records of Seattle and Houston vs Toronto, Baltimore, and Toronto?

It would seem that these clearly superior battle tested teams should rake against the bottom teams of the east.

And if they do not rake then is it possible that the bottom east team could be better than your cherry picking indicates?

Having a well rested team is more important than playing for HFA.

What could possibly go wrong??

The Yankees would be so shocked to see Price out there they won't know what to do.
