A win!

This game is a good example of what this team has this year that they didn't have last year. Yesterday Mookie won it almost single-handedly with two HR's and JDM won it tonight with a 3 run homer.

They need those big bats.

nice to have Kimbrel too. He is worth what we are paying him. Two of three from a division opponent in their home park after a long road trip. Excellent results, and yes it is good to have some home run power. I was looking at the lineup tonight and noticed we had power in a number of positions. Only one had hit the long ball on successive nights but tonight we had

Betts

Hanley

JDM

Moreland

Dever

Nunez

All of them can be power threats. Nice not to give the opponents pitching much breathing room.

Come on now Moon!

That's just not right :(

I lived in Milwaukee during the Bart Starr & Lew Alcindor eras.

Cut me some slack.

Tough win. That huge 3 run dinger by JD started with the 2 out single by Beni, who also drove in a run earlier. JD also made a nice grab in right center. This team continues to surprise. Including Carson Smith, sadly.

If Beni comes alive, this team will be very hard to beat going forward.

Hopefully you weren't a beer guy! You beer, granted in retrospect (as I drank a good deal of it), was absolute shyte!

Anyway.... you, as always, get a pass.

:)

p.s. Oregon is BEER central these days. BEST micro-brews in the country!

I'm still hopeful Carson Smith gets his act together, but I'm not sure how much longer we can give him him high leverage chances.

Maybe by year's end, we'll have Smith & Thornburg firing on all cylinders and guys like Kelly, Barnes & Hembree are our 6-7th inning guys.

WHEN Beni comes alive!

He will heat up big time!!!

Still needs to pull his head out of his arss on the basepaths!

I've never been a big beer fan, but I had my share in my college days.

BTW, I used to be able to see the big Miller High Life sign from my front yard.

But but but the same performance can be had for much less money!!!!1!!:P
Anyone can get 3 outs in the 9th. There is nothing different about the 9th inning.

What happens in the 9th is completely random.

Especially in close games.

You know this.

Seriously you guys beat this dead horse into powder about 150 posts ago. I get that you disagree with other people about statistics and randomness and clutch and whatever else, but honestly like 50% of your posts lately are this same sarcastic stuff. Let it go already, or at least keep it in the threads specifically discussing those issues.

Kelly has actually been terrific since the ugly first game.

They better not let Kimbrel walk.

Dombrowski might be thinking the same way. He's been waiting his whole life for a closer like this.

How much will it take though?

Sophomore slump? It will be interesting to see the lineup tonight now that Xander will be back.

Pining for Swihart over here.

I'd like to see Swihart get some more AB's.

But I'm with moonslav on the catching thing.

When your pitching is this good you have to give some of the credit to the men behind the dish, whether or not they can hit.

I think we have still only had 2 bad outings by our starting pitchers, 24 games into the season.

I'm not even close to wanting Swihart to replace either of our catchers.

Our staff is doing very well, and I feel that has a lot to do with who we've had behind the plate the last couple years.

...and maybe 2-3 bad meltdowns by the pen as well.

We have a nice staff to begin with, but Leon & Vax seem to get the most out of them.

Last year, I felt our pen was our weakest (not weak) area. They ended up being the unsung heroes.

Once again, don't change what ain't broke. 24 games in and this starting pitching has been just incredible. How much of a role our catchers have had in it is debatable but one thing for sure is that they both can catch. No need to change a thing but wouldn't you think that something has to happen with Swihart at some point?
