I have to admit, I never in a million years thought price would reinvent himself this year into the pitcher he has become,

The guy has been a great pitcher for years and years. It should never be a surprise when a great pitcher has a rough patch and then returns to form or reinvents himself as a different style of pitcher.

9.5 up.

Nice sweep.

We're 26-6 (.813) in our last 31 games and 7-3 in the 10 before that! (33-9 is .805.)

Eight- oh- freakin' five in 41 games!

Yes, it is.

I was a teacher and still volunteer almost full time. Getting the kids to laugh at me (not with me) is always a great ice breaker.

He also owns a 0.20 ERA in his last seven starts, which is the lowest ERA over a seven-game stretch by a Red Sox starter since earned runs became an official stat in 1913. Over his last 44 innings, Sale has allowed one run while striking out 79 and walking six batters.

Sox 97 wins

NYY 93 wins....

Moon you posted this predication back in March 2, 10:33 pm.

I guess I was all over the map.

I projected 101 on my first post on Part II, 97 this day, and I think on a survey I chose 92-95 with reservations.

How about JBJ's, more or less, steady rise with his OPS?

.510 May 12

.548 May 27th

.572 June 12th

.612 June 27th

.641 July 12th

.653 July 27th

.694 Aug 12th

Good to see 3 straight months of consistent plus offense along with the GG quality defense.

JBJ gives us so much defense that we need patience on offensive end. Question going forward is has he truly fixed his swing? Or will he always regress to hitting in .180's. Luckily we have enough offense to carry him.

I'm not all that concerned about the "edges". Just getting it close to exact and making it consistent will level the playing field for all pitchers, teams, fans and managers.

I don't mind seeing the ump calling a strike on a borderline pitch. Make him swing the bat. Keep the game moving and keep it interesting. With all the emphasis on OBP , a lot of guys are up there looking for a walk. They gripe when they get rung up on a pitch that was too close to take. It is making the game tedious. I would definitely like seeing more " pitcher's umpires. "

Then set the robo-ump to that setting.

Okay with me. Just make it consistent.

JBJ will slump again, like all players do, but I'm hoping he's over the extended slumps for good.

It has to be one of the most dominant runs in history.

Do the robot umps have “Argue” and “Eject Manager” features? Or do we have to wait until 2020 for those upgrades?

I don’t care if he is or isn’t. He should be starting in CF regardless...

I've been on this page from year 1.

I admit prior to his initial offensive surge, I had a “down on Bradley” period where I went from thinking we might have the next Fred Lynn to hoping Bradley might become the next Darren Lewis.

In some respects, I’m actually thankful for the early struggles Bradley endured in his career, as they might have helped drive softlaw away from the boards. He probably felt pretty stupid after the insane pro-Bradley/anti-Ellsbury mantra he’d been preaching for years.

However those early struggles might also have had long-reaching consequences. I always believed Bradley’s early career offensive woes were huge factors in signing Rusney Castillo and moving Betts to the outfield (although the latter move has certainly worked out)..,

softy started with Crisp > "punch and Judy" Jacoby.

I've always been fine with JBJ as our CF'er, even with poor D, and I liked him more than Ellsbury, too.

I've been defending his bat a lot, which make it seem like I feel he needs to hit to keep playing, which I don't agree with, but I do feel his offense has been good enough to play despite the defense for over 3 years now.

Yes, he slumps. Yes, his slumps can be long and horrific.

Overall, he does good enough on offense.

If anyone thinks it's 50-50 when considering his defense in the equation, his base running should tilt to playing him FT.

Since the Yankees got swept in Boston, they have gone 6-1, but have not gained even 1/2 game in the standings.

And, another 7 games marked off of the calendar. :)

I think Swihart comes off the DL on Wed.

The corresponding move: Butler will be sent down.

On Tuesday, Kinsler is expected to be activated and the Red Sox are expected to go with one less pitcher. There are three possible moves to make room for Kinsler: (1) Pomeranz is released or placed on DL; (2) Velazquez is sent down; (3) Brasier is sent down.

I'm guessing that Velazquez is sent down, but I would DL Pomeranz for the purpose of transitioning him to a relief role in a rehab stint, and then bring him back as a reliever in September. The Red Sox are already making that transition at the major league level, but I would rather keep Velazquez with the big club. I have more confidence in Velazquez than Pomeranz.

We could also trade Hembree and try to build up our farm a bit.

Hembree is out of options and we can easily replace him, in kind, from within the system.

It sounds like Kinsler might not be returning on Tuesday.

I read that he was returning on Tuesday on soxprospects.com, but I should have double-checked the info -- soxprospects doesn't know what they are talking about half the time.
