Another one of those freaky coincidences that seem to occur so regularly in baseball - last night was the 10th anniversary of David Price's other great postseason moment, when he recorded the final 4 outs in Game 7 against the Red Sox.

Jackie Bradley Jr. joins Alcides Escobar and Delmon Young* as past winners of the MVP award in the American League Championship Series.

I hold Bradley in high regard but an impressive five-game postseason series (preceded by a less-impressive four-game postseason series) won't have a great impact on his value.

* and Marty Barrett!

ALE > ALW

Here's an observation you won't read anywhere else.

There were 2 separate stories about so-called 'trolling' by Red Sox opponents this postseason.

Aaron Judge played 'New York, New York'. So New York times 2. Then the Red Sox win the next two.

Alex Bregland played a video of 3 home runs. Then the Red Sox win the next three.

Kind of a weird mathematical progression going on there.

Let's hope Monchada posts a video of him hitting Pedroia 4 times!

ALE > ALW

Apparently you didn't get the memo saying that the Sox aren't that good. The only reason the Sox won 108 games is because they got to fatten up on the rest of the ALE. If they were in the ALW they might not even win their division.

Let's hear it for Baltimore right ss. The good news is that these guys don't seem to care that much about the naysayers. It seems to motivate them. Eovaldi - 101.6 last night to Bregman. For such a great player have to say he was over matched in that at bat.

DD''s moves have been bang on this season. Kinsler was a solid pick up. Pearce and Evoaldi have been brilliant pick ups. Go the Midas touch this year.

I've also got a MAJOR man-crush on Brasier.

Once Braiser shook off the nerves in the first game of the playoffs, he's been nails.

Under team control for another six years.....yeah baby!

He's another guy we should try to sign next year.

We had two pitchers trying to rebuild their career that DD took a chance on mid-season and they're both now pitching in the World Series. It would be nice if we could sign at least one of them.

It would also be nice if at least one of them would recognize what the Sox organization did for them and price themselves accordingly. That probably won't happen but if it id we'd have ourselves a quality individual there.

Do we have BB for six years? I thought he was a FA pickup.

Slow down. He might not even have 6 years left in his career...

That's what I was thinking. He screams flash in a pan.

Or he's finally arrived.

Flash in the pan does seem more likely. The Sox will have 2 more minimum wage years to determine which one he is...

Starting line up 2019

c Vaz

1B Moreland/?????? (Cora wanted to give Moreland more at bats, but he seems injury prone at his age)

2B Nunez

3b Devers

SS Xander

LF Beni

CF JBJ

RF Betts

DH JD

Need a right handed bat to go with 1B. Wait and see on Pedey. If he suffers another set back, it's time to move on, look for permanent replacement. Love to see JD work at 1B a little for inter league competition (allows our OF defense to stay in tact).

SP Sale, Price, Porcello, E Rod, Johnson, Hector, FA??? I think Wright serves as great middle inning guy that can pitch multiple innings. You need that during regular season.

BP..Make it work.

Closer...Kimbrel too expensive but who?

Big question....when will our farm produce a starting pitcher?

Oops, sorry, four more years. FA in 2023.

Thanks. I was wrong about that, also. I thought he got signed to a FA contract that expired after the 2018 season.

He was an FA pickup, but he carries less than 6 years service time, so he falls into the arb window/pre-arb window

Tons of possibilities for the Yankees. Not sure why you won't go after Eovaldi. Also if JD opts out, short right field porch would be perfect for JD. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Sox sign Eovaldi as insurance against not signing Porcello and Sale after 2019. JD needs to be extended by the Sox next April. Push back opt out for another couple of years in the process. His bat is a difference maker. For me, Betts, JBJ, Beni, Xander and JD are the core. Not sure if we can keep them all.

Good luck with Machado. Perhaps he'll thrive for the Yankees.

After watching the sox buzzsaw us with 2 right handers and a pen full of righties, I think the plan will not be to get Machado. We are too vulnerable to righty power. We need a lefty bat to balance it out

I hope Machado signs with some dumpy NL team and we never have to hear from him again.

That play where he clipped the 1B on purpose, that's all I needed to see. And just to think, Pedey 'defended' him. I will NEVER forget "it's not me, it's THEM".

My priorities are little different than Moon's and I do respect him.

Signing Eovaldi takes pressure off Porcello/Sale free agency after 2019. I'm willing to go say 4 years, $60M. Maybe that won't be enough.

Arbitration increases will be paid for by Hanley's salary, $22M.

Kimbrel, Kelly and Pom will contribute another $25M. Can we sign Eovaldi and TRADE for a closer? We also pick up additional $8M in cap increase to take care of contract raises for Vaz, Sale and anyone else.
