Groome was rated pretty highly before the injury, despite not putting up great numbers when he was healthy.

You claimed he has NO VALUE now, so I can only assume it was because of the injury.

Look, I never said Groome had high value, especially after the injury, but you and I both know, every team would take him into their system for free, which is basically what value you assigned to him.

Yes, it was a veiled dig at you. Even when I called you out for your "no value" statement, you never clarified it. Are you still saying he has absolutely no value at all?

BTW, Groome reaches rule 5 in December of 2020, so there is ample time for him to return to strength and earn his way on the roster, or not.

Of course a team would take him for free. But nobody is going to deal anything of real value for him as the headliner. Same with Chavis. Neither are tradeable right now, or at least they shouldn't be dealt. Their stock is at an all time low

I never even hinted at "headliner" value. My beef was over your comment that he had "no value at all." You still have not really disavowed that claim.

Some included him as part of a package for headliners, but I never said he was a key value to any big deal.

We got Pearce for Espinal. Are you saying Groome doesn't even have that value?

I'd say we could get someone better than Pearce for Groome, despite the injury.

Reading BSJ McAdam says Thornburg should be activated this week. Was not doing good at Pawtucket. He did have a 1,2,3 inning Saturday night though. His 30 day rehab ends Wed. Haley will be sent down. Edited by OH FOY!

I've lost a lot of my hopes for Thornburg but not all of it.

Thornburg can be optioned

He's got one arb year left, so maybe the option comes in handy, but if he's doing so poorly, we're thinking about sending him back and forth to AAA, I'm not sure what good it does us other than giving us flexible depth in the pen.

Hembree, Wright & Pom are out of options.

All good stuff Moon.

I still think Groome will be a flop.

I hope Jay Groome has a productive MLB career.

But today Groome has limited trade value.

Not for nothing , but Pedro worked quite a bit with Severino the past two off seasons. Thanks , Petey.

Yeah, that's just not right.

I have no problem with Pedro helping his country mate with his skills.

Seems like a human and honorable thing to do.

Other knuckleball pitchers helped Wakefield. That is what players and former players do.

Yup. All the players are more friendly with each other than not. There is a fraternity.

And being from the DR is a very important part of who players are. There is tremendous national pride for and among baseball players.

Helping other players, yes.

Helping a Yankees player, NO.

Me too.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhh.....

We want other GMs to fall in love with Groome, so we can trade him (with others) for the next Sale.

That is not realistic in this day and age.

It is childish to believe that people who are friends would put aside their friendship because of who they work for. These are adults, not second graders.

2nd graders should get a shot at running the country, I reckon. They can do no worse than the s*** show going on now.

Kimmi, All due respect, but my guess is that Pedro worked with our pitchers too--only they didn't listen.

That is in fact what I see in all our starters except Sale, who does work on his repertoire and his delivery. I see no evidence that Pom has ever attempted to develop a changeup, which is crucial for a lefty starter. I see nothing new about what Price does. Or ERod who, if anything, is getting worse in terms of delivery and command. Porcello is I think keeping the ball low better than last year. But not ERod or Price.

Meanwhile, there is Severino with that blazing fastball who has worked on and become good at throwing breaking balls, sharp breaking ones. He listens.

I have no doubt that Pedro is working with our pitchers. He's on our payroll to do so.

If I'm not mistaken, Pedro was focusing on Porcello and his sinker during ST and early in the season. He seems to have listened.

If you ask me, ERod, Pom, and Price all think too much on the mound. The amount of time they take between pitches when there are runners on base is too great. They need to take a page out of Sale's book - get the ball, get the sign, and pitch. If I were the coaches, I would tell those three guys to trust their catchers and not to shake them off. They are overthinking, which messes with their ability to pitch with any conviction.

Some Sox news:

1) Smith moved to 60 day DL.

2) William Cuevas added to the roster and promoted to Boston.

3) Haley sent back to AAA.

4) Sox trade Lorenzo Cedrola to the Reds for international bonus pool space.

5) Sox sign Eduardo Lopez OF at $1.15M (International FA signing) #23 ranked Int'l prospect

Good point about time between pitches. Yes, they need to be like Sale.

Honestly if he is cashing a check from the Boston Red Sox I have a yuuuuuge problem with him helping a player from another team. Especially a player from the ALE. And most especially a player from the EE.
