A Realistic View at 2018: Part II

What I thought about our hot start was that we needed to wait and play a stronger team to see how we do. Well, 2 for 3 from the Yankees and a good showing in the loss was a very good showing. We got a couple of our hot hitters dinged up as well, so with them back we can only get better. The season is off to a good start. JBJ is showing some signs of life at the plate and Beni is as well, all good.

The only concern is injuries. All of our religious folk should be praying for the health of our players.

I'm on this wavelength too. No normal person really wants to see these guys risk injury by brawling but like so much else on occasion it is part of the game. They support each it looks to me. I was amazed at Joe kelly - no backdown. It's the team's attitude I think. I really love the fact that Pedroia gets to sit and watch it. I'm pretty sure he will be on board with the rest of them when he returns.

If anybody can come back strong from a serious injury like his, it's Pedey.

 

What a boost he could be. The biggest plus might be that with Nunez moving to utility, our bench may finally be strong enough to fully benefit from Cora's "rest 'em often" philosophy.

My guess is that he is pissed off that it isn't just about him anymore. He will help us for sure but maybe him being out for awhile has been good for him and the team. They are doing pretty damn good without him.

I know it's a small sample size but 10-2 to start the season? That's amazing! I thought we would be improved, but I didn't think we were going to be -this- good!!

 

Less than 10% of the season gone, I know but that's on pace for 134 wins. Which is INSANE!!

 

I'm just going to say at this rate, which is unsustainable, this is still definitely a 95+ win team. I feel like 95 wins should be enough to win the division this year. There are going to be some ups and downs, but whatever we have going on... it's working and I'm Loving It!!!

YES! My wife said he looked like a short, fat, out of shape, midget Thor!

 

We met him last year in Seattle, and he could not be a nicer guy! Took photos with my wife & son. Rumor has it, he may have pulled an Al Franken on my wife, but I couldn't blame the little guy for trying.

Like i said - who has said that we should trade this guy right now? Maybe I'm giving people too much credit but I don't see anybody really advocating for that. There are a lot of people here including me who aren't happy with his continued lack of hitting. I'm just saying that there are a couple of posters who just want to keep cranking it up by saying that there are a pant load of people who want him gone right now - that is not the case.
