Lol.

Okay now I am interested to see how his defensive numbers stand next to those of Moreland.

I never did see Gold Glove play at first in 2017. Moreland was pretty sound and I have few complaints about his D.

There are no more Keith Hernandezes.

Come to think of it, seeing the defensive numbers for Youk, Napoli, Hanley, and Morland compared to this bargain would be interesting.

Price is the wild card. If he’s not healthy, you’re team is in trouble. If he returns as 2015 David Price, you’ll be solid

I think there are a few in our rotation that could go either way. Actually, outside of Sale, the other starters could be very good or they could be meh, a lot of which depends on health. I would still prefer adding a #2/3 starter over adding a big bat.

I know that yo directed your question to jacksoniamarch.

My point is if you can win 2 out of 3 with your top three, then you'll win the series 4-3. I'm not sure why it's that hard. Hell, obviously there are no guarantees. But the absolute best from Price, Sale and Pom looks pretty good.

The best from those 3 does look pretty good, but I think it's a legitimate question as to whether we'll get the best from them or not.

But so far St. Louis and San Francisco have been more inclined to give actual packages with real prospects. THAT is the biggest obstacle for Boston.

Stanton will get dealt, but likely somewhere else. And Miami probably gets one decent prospect better than anything the Sox have offered.

better than Beni?

Really? Texas was abysmal this year and is now without Darvish. The Twins are on the upswing, but they were far inferior to the Yankees and got smoked in the playin game. We have the best farm. We have the best young core. We have the second most money available. And we happen to have a hole in the rotation and at DH. We are the favorites here

you left this one of your list of how amazing the yankees are - the Yankees also have the best clinics in Miami.....

What I really like about DD is that none of us meatballs here have one single clue as to what he might do.

Actually the second DD was hired by the Boston Red Sox, this meatball stated that DD would blow up the Farm. i had a clue......

Pretty amazing.

I sure hope we are not going to be viewing the Price contract in a similar way to the Miggy deal.

Sorry Moon. when all is said and done...the Price contract will go down as the worst contract in the history of Baseball Contracts.....

LMFAO. f***ing yankees troll. HOW DID THE BOSTON RED SOX DO WITH PRICE BASICALLY ON THE DL THE ENTIRE 2017 SEASON? OH YEAH...WE WON THE f***ING DIVISION. go suck #99's fungo....

Come on Slasher - You forgot to add that while trading away a whole bunch of guys who probably never would have played for us, we got a fairly good return. I guess if we had won the east for the last couple of years and still had every "prospect" that we traded, things would be pretty good. You have to get over this Espinoza thing. I'm just kidding with you - I feel as though I have to say this because we are in our moody cycle.

He blew up the farm and signed Price because Benny left him with a rotation headed by Rick Porcello with a 4.92 ERA, and Clay Buchholz, and a bullpen with one good pitcher, Koji, who only pitched 40 innings in 2015.

Thanks Ben!

If Nunez needs time to recover, he's not a good choice to take Pedey's spot on opening day.

I'm not sure anyone knows what his knee will be like by April.

April is still quite a ways away but it just all depends on how he heals. Knee injuries can be a strange injury. I've seen players rebound and heal in a few months.... And the next player can have the same injury to their knee and it ruins their career. Time will tell how he does in the healing stage. He's a hell of a player.... Always hate seeing guys go down to injuries like that. :( if heals in time by April he's the perfect choice to take Pedeys place

You could be right. Most big signings like this fail- several from year 1.

I wasn't thrilled when we signed him, but I understood why we did it. We did need an ace, and trading prospects for one just causes future issues.

Espinoza is now only the 7th ranked Padres prospect.

fair. but my post stands. DD blows up Farms. it's what he does. so some of us did have a clue about what DD would do. did he get some solid pieces for the Farm he gave up? yes. but i will never ever ever call it a success until there is a parade with DD on a duckboat.....

FTR i am 100% behind the Sale trade. in fact i am on record stating it was a trade that a monkey would have made. the Pom and Kimbrell trades.....TBD (but i am on record that we way over paid for kimbrell and traded espinoza for a broken RP with a short track record as SP.)

Most of the farm was fertilizer and not crop.

The Sox farm was outstanding when Ben left.

One thing I always felt Ben needed to do more of was trading the occasional prospect..

And the MLB team was a last place dud.

He didn't have to blow up the farm.

The MLB team would have been in the playoffs in 2016 without Dombrowski selling off the farm.

I take all of my meatball comments back - I am the meatball! I would bet a great deal (figuratively ) of course that Pomeranz will win twice as many ml league games as Espinoza before it is all over.

Except no pitching anywhere near MLB ready.

What's your point?

The Sox have been one of the best teams in the AL for almost 15 years now while only developing Lester and Buchholz. Having a stacked farm enables trades like the one for Sale...

Posted
Do you expect him to make the White Sox rotation in 2018? Three years away isn't near major league ready.

Yes, I expect he starts for the DWS this summer.

Maybe 1.5 years.

I hated that trade when it happened. But I give DD credit. Pomeranz has been very good...

I thought Pom and Kimbrel would both be good, but I still felt we gave up too much.

We traded for 3 playoff cycles of Pom. He didn't do much last year at the end of the year. He had a great season this year. He's got one year left.

Kimbrel was not that great last year, but he was the best this year. He's got one year left.

DD certainly looks good on these two trades, but if these two fall off next year, and we don't win a ring, I think the results of the players we traded away will be looked at much more closely going forward.
