Underrated physical tools, 6.68 runner, has quick feet at third base, plenty of arm strength, can quicken up release and polish footwork but has all the tools to be a solid defender, also plays the outfield.

 

Chavis is a garbage defender.

 

It was HS but he had real s***** footwork at 3rd in this tapes.

Chavis with 9 game hitting streak, but what I'm liking is 37 AB's with 5 K's. He's trying to cut down on his K's, and have a plan for his at bats. Progress, that's all you ask for in a kid.

 

He has done a great job cutting down on his K's.

I've never been a big Brentz fan, but it's hard to argue against him getting a chance. I doubt they move Young to make room for Brentz, so it might be a September call-up chance to get a look and maybe win more playing time.

Not sure that's a slate of writers that I'd pay for.

 

As for that story, I'm sure DD takes a lot of his mandates from ownership (signing Fielder, signing Price, trading for Sale, etc.). Not sure that's a bad thing.

Either way, it seems like a weird thing to float out there. I'm pretty sure every ownership in MLB has ongoing conversations with their GM's. I think the story was put out there to add on to the DD will trade away the entire farm system narrative.

 

I'm not a big McAdam fan. He's a fine beat writer, but I don't think he ever has any amazing insight are unique stories to provide.
