I'm not expecting much from this signing, but there s a sliver of hope he regains his stuff (or comes close).
He just needs to be better than Kendrick and Velazquez.

Every once in a while a team catches lightning in a bottle with a guy like Fister.

Maybe we can be that team!!!!!

Then again it's not like Fister has been washed up and so bad he's not a MLB pitcher. He pitched last year! He just wasn't as good as he's been in the past but even if he pitches no better than he did the last two years he will still be a viable option at the back of this rotation.

32 starts last year!

The WHIP over 1.4 for 2 straight years is more than concerning, but Porcello's is up there this year.

I think it's a great sign, he should add some stability to the back of the rotation. If Erod can come back healthy, and/or Price can do what he did last year and have a very strong season after his first month then the pitching should be fine.

Henry Owens is going to Double-A Portland. He’s been with Triple-A Pawtucket and is still walking a lot of hitters.

The Red Sox are moving Henry Owens to Double A. 48 walks in his last 47 1/3 innings, including 8 BBs in 2 of last 3 starts.

Such is the nature of touted prospects.

I have not seen him pitch this year but I am assuming that he has made no progress with control and command.

Being send down to AA is the kiss of death for him.

Should of cut his hair long ago.

We should have traded him when he was still considered to be a prospect.

Shoulda woulda coulda. Hindsight is 20/20

Dojji: I think you mean low risk low reward. There's no such thing as a low risk high reward guy. Risk and reward are directly proportional, not inversely.

Pretty good impression. But it is possible to exploit inefficiencies in the market to maximize risk and minimize reward.

Sale right now is the only SP that you feel real confident the day he pitches that the Sox are going to win. Price all of a sudden can't stay healthy. Cracked nail? Rodriguez is a younger version of him. Can't stay healthy. What is with Porcello? Pomeranz is also very inconsistent when he is healthy. Fister pitched well enough for a 5th starter, but there is a reason why he wasn't on a major league roster. The AL East is sitting there for the taking.

I am a big believer in trading most prospects, because most wash out, especially pitchers.

for the most part I agree with you here. If you can get a proven young player for a prospect, what's not to like? Shout out for my boy Pom Pom. Glad I have stuck with him. At his age, I liked the trade then and I like it more now.

Since Pom had his argument with Farrell in the dugout, he has pitched very well. If he can keep pitching like that...

Drew Pomeranz 4-1 w/ 2.70 ERA in 7 starts since heated argument in dugout in Oakland / Farrell.

ERA has dropped from 4.70 to 3.81.

I have no problem with trading prospects. What I take issue with is not getting proper value for them and trading them to the extreme, ie. depleting the farm.

I have no problem with what you are saying here either. The but is, who gets to say what proper value is? When is thinning the farm not depleting it? Much of it hinges on personal perspective.

Fair enough. My perspective is that Dombrowski did both.

I know that most disagree with that perspective, but once we hit the cliff, you'll know what I mean. LOL

You watch out for that cliff! When he moves Devers for "Moose", it will be here sooner than you had planned!

Farrell the motivator!

Pomeranz is definitely on a roll lately, which is great to see.

Am I the only one kind of worried by these recent whispers of Red Sox interest in Sonny Gray?

The Gray rumors are a little surprising.

I hadn't heard those whispers but I'm not crazy about it unless we could get him VERY cheaply. IMO a new 3B would help this team more than another pitcher.
