It's what they do. Can't wait to see what they do with their hit machine (Sam Travis) when the next moves are made.

When DP comes back in a few weeks, if Panda doesn't hit soon. I can see DD going 2 John Henry and asking him ,if he can release him soon. I think he will say yes. He sticks with Marrero / Rutledge for the time being. They bring Devers up in August and hope he shows promise.

I will say this.. DD has a different approach than many GM's. He proved that when he gave the 3B position to Middlebrooks because Sandoval wasn't producing. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Sandoval out on his own by the AS break if he doesn't produce this time.

You must mean T Shaw.

Tons Of Fun sighting in the Sox dugout.

These idiots will pop him back into the lineup while both Mererro and Rutledge are playing well.

Got to see him fail again. That is clearly more important than putting the best players on the field!

The team has to see what they have in Pablo. It would make no sense to DFA or bench him without giving him a fair shot.

Marrero and Rutledge have filled in well, but they are not the solution to 3B.

Using Marrero as a defensive replacement sounds like a good plan to me.

I'm not sure Marrero's stock should be very high.

I guess watching the bumblings we've had going on at 3B for years makes anyone who can make plays look like a keeper.

I'm glad Marrero has done a very good job over a short time, but he is not and never will be our permanent solution at 3B- not that anyone has said he should or will be.

With Holt and Hernandez out for an extended time, I like the idea of keeping Marrero as our best SS back-up and an option at 3B, if needed.

Pablo is going to get a significant look. It is what it is, regardless of what any of us want or think is best.

Personally, I'm okay with giving Pablo a few weeks to shine. I'd seriously consider using Marrero or Rutledge at 3B vs LHPs and never letting Pablo start vs a lefty again.

Panda with 3 hits and deven with a big E. footsteps....

His glove has never played the way scouts have told us it would.

Yeah, that was surprising to me. Fielding is supposed to be easier to project.

In DM's defense, he only played 45 innings at 3B in the minors. (One of my pet peaves about the Sox organization is that they do no properly prepare their players to play the position they most likely will (be forced to) play.)

@redsoxstats

Marrero's splits are wild: .127/.172/.145 vs RHP for a -12 OPS+, .353/.389/1.000 vs LHP in 17 at bats.

Yes, but Sandoval is a liability at 3rd.

Marrero's splits don't matter. He has never hit at any professional level, plus hes been a disaster defensively when you compare his output to reputation.

We are paying Sandoval, play Sandoval. Marrero is a borderline minor league offensive player, let alone major league caliber player. it is embarrassing that he has received the amount of playing time he has thus far.

That came off a game vs Quintana. He's still can't hit.

Chris Sale appears to me to be a bit of an old soul when it comes to athletics these days. My idea of tough and gritty. When he speaks, i think that I am going to listen. For all of you Pedroia lovers, Sale has already shown more leadership talent than "Pedey" has in a career. My point is that Sale's latest comments about how he feels about the Panda work for me. Sounds to me like Pablo must be a decent teammate. Regardless of how he has played, he is still our best hope at third. Yard him out there and leave him alone.

I couldn't agree more.

I'm glad we have Chris Freakin Sale on his club, and I think Papblo is our best chance at geting anything positive out of 3B until Devers is ready.

Leave it to Harmony to scour the internet to find something negative about a Red Sox player and then post it here.

However, I still recommend reading the article. The first several paragraphs talks about the emphasis on launch angle and I (at least I! LOL) found it interesting.

But at least one evaluator who saw him recently walked away convinced that Devers won’t be able to hold down the position in the big leagues because of his size and condition. If this turns out to be true -- and he’s a young player, capable of change -- it could impact Boston’s planning.

People have been saying that all along. His defense is only getting better though. If he has a franchise bat, moving him off of 3B won't matter.

Posted
No, just that he is too big to play 3B.
I saw him in ST. I don't agree with that although he could shed a few lbs. Pedroia was a little pudgy too in 2006 in ST, but got himself into better condition.

The scouts that said that would jump at the chance to trade for Devers. It's a frivolous complaint at this point.

And if Devers needs to be moved off position, we certainly have a SS that can slide over to 3B as people have Xander would never last at SS.

The launch angle part was interesting. I don't get the Montero-Devers comparison at all though.

For what it's worth, I thought the comparison was odd.
