Barnes continues to prove he is nothing more than an average middle reliever. People keep pushing for him to be an 8th inning guy but I don't see it.

Agree. Buchholz & Ross depending on matchup.. Ziegler / Kimbrel. From now on? Does Farrell see it that way. . It was the right move. No more. Over.

Farrell is delusional. He isn't going to do something smart like that.

eRod's delivery was whacko from th first pitch of the 5th. Very inconsistent timing. If Buchholz is not in the rotation, why wasn't he wheeled out there when this became obvious (to our two "pitching coaches"). If I could see it on TV, why couldn't they?

Don't forget the manager. Yost pull Ventura when he look like s***. Farrell let Rodriguez load the bases.

The difference is Yost actually has a bullpen that can be depended on to get outs. Farrell has nothing of the sort.

In retrospect, ERod may have been the best option for getting out of this inning.

I am not seeing how this team makes the playoffs. s***** bullpen!!!! Also they don't play well at home no matter what the record says.

I don't know. If you take away the two cheap infield hits, and, well, the hit-batsman, the triple, the smash off the wall, the bad throw ... it really wasn't all that bad.

Farrell has a long reliever, Buchholz. He's pitched well. This was a situation for him. Buch actually NEVER has pitch long relief this year.

I'm wondering if Buchholz can get ready that quickly yet. It's a major adjustment going from having as much time as you need as a starter to better be ready in 2-3 minutes as a reliever.

Still doesn't change the fact that Yost has a stable of relievers that can be depended on to get outs. Farrell has a box of chocolates, many of whom seem unable to pitch with a lead.

I checked something he pitched in long relief against Toronto in May. The Price vrs Dickey game. They where on the verge off getting swept.

If you are talking about the May 29th game, Buchholz only pitched the 10th inning of that one. Sox scored 2 in the 11th and Uehara got the save.

Right. Correct. I get it multiple innings. You and Station are right.

I thought he pitched the 8/9 . But he didn't. My bad.

I feel we should win this division but we won't. The blue jays likely will win it again. This team's too damn inconsistent. I hope farrell's gone after the season.

I'm sure Farrell will be with another bad month or early play off exit.

If we somehow win the World Series this year, we'll be the crankiest champions ever. After all the crap we've been through and having overcome it with brute force, we'll say "Finally, got through that dumb season on top somehow. Don't bug me for 3 months, because I'm going to bed."

This is not a World Series winning team. There are too many holes; the bullpen leads the way, but there are a few in the line-up as well.

OTOH, compared to the last 2 years, isn't it better to actually have games that mean something at this point of the season?

You guys still want Barnes to close?

Who wanted him to close? I thought the senses on this form is that no one liked him. The only person that has a man crush on him is John Farrell.

It was mentioned a few times back when Kimbrel came off the DL and had a rough appearance or two.

And Barnes was looking good at the time.
