DD better pull the trigger fast, the offense is back. Reminds me back in the 70's with the stud lineup. But when they cooled off, they all cooled off, but when they got hot look out.

Porcello had a rough first inning and didn't have his best stuff, but he grinded it out and I'll happily take his performance.

Koji remains a conern though.

If EROD and Bucholtz pitched with any results, we would still be in first. Not to mention Kelly. Maybe we get our pitcher and this team has a big second half. If Leon can hit half of what he has been, look out. I can only hope...

Nice to see the offense show up but the pitching still a concern.

Porcello wasn't great but Texas is a fantastic team. To be honest I said to myself if Porcello can give up 5 or less we might be able to beat them. He wasn't great but wasn't atrocious either. Good enough to get the win today! Let's win this series now!

Yeah, Porcello gutted it out on a day when he didn't have his best stuff. Most guys who give up 10+ hits against the Rangers lineup don't last past the first couple of innings and leave after 6 or 7 runs. Part of it is luck, guys getting thrown out at the plate and hard-hit balls right at fielders, but a lot of it is getting that GB double play or popout by making a pitch when you absolutely need to, and Porcello did that today.

If Price has a good start tomorrow, do you think you can spend at least three games without your incessant, uninterrupted, torrential, continous, machinegun whining?

Pretty please?

He'll probably get sent down by JF...JF loves Hanigan.

I think Vazquez is going to be the odd man out. He needs to work on his hitting, but mainly, he has options.

On the previous game thread someone said Brock Holt was holding this team together, which at the time I thought was silly. Today with the bases loaded he took 2 pitches in the heart of the strike zone, then had to swing a low pitch for an easy groundout.

It's amazing how well the team plays when Holt is in the game. As Bellhorn posted in the other thread, the team was 23-9, now 24-9, when Holt starts.

That said, I read the following stat today:

Red Sox Stats ‏@redsoxstats

Brock Holt hit .208/.288/.260 from games 6-41. Tell me more about how he is the reason they won all those games.

Whatever Holt was doing to 'inspire' the team, it was not his hitting. LOL That said, Brock had a heck of a game today, both offensively and defensively.

You know who's awful JBay? You're awful....wanna know why? Because umpires are awesome, and no one should lower the game's enjoyment factor by messing with:

THE HUMAN ELEMENT!!!!11!!!!

This post really wasn't necessary UN. Stop.

I honestly don't think it makes that much differece who bats where with these guys. Betts leads off and leads the team in runs scored, but he is also second in rbi's. And the lineup only leads MLB in runs scored by 25 runs or so.

Shuffling the line up is likely to do more harm than it does good.

Agreed on Porcello.

I'm not sure why Farrell put Koji in the game today in that situation.

For the first half of this season Ortiz has been our hitting star--beyond question. But a bunch of other guys have contributed--Bogaerts, Betts, Bradley, Shaw, Young, HanRam, Pedroia, Leon, and in his three latest games, all wins, Holt. He has been hot exactly when the Sox needed a spark. What does amaze me is that Betts, batting leadoff, is second on the team in rbi's. This can only happen if the bottom third of the lineup is getting on base. And it could only happen with this Sox team.

All the negative Pedroia talk is perplexing. Over the last several seasons there has been one reliable barometer for performance by the Red Sox. When Pedey is hitting, this team scores a lot of runs.

Dude he has been awful lately. He's getting paid to be a stopper.

Lately? He had a bad start after eight consecutive good-to-great starts. And I'm not talking about Price, I am talking about your whining in general. That is literally all you do on this site. Join some other, none-whine discussions.

Everyone whines here dude and no. He has had two bad starts recently. He needs a good one now. That's my point.

Price has had two bad starts in succession.

People wonder why he was so bad when he struck out 10. Look who he struck out.

Anyway, He does need to get better and fast. This ship is sinking. Taking 2 of 3 from the Juggernaut Angels proves nothing.

The thing is, if I have to put money on one guy to step it up and come up big when needed I would not discount choosing Price.

That one reliable barometer is getting injured during the year, gutting it out and causing a second half swoon.

Which particular years did ya have in mind?
