it was catchable. There was no wild throw. Better 1B scoop it. But the run had no business of scoring if Vazquez didn't let Martin walk over to 3B.

Actually, our pen ranked 5th in the league in ERA coming into this game. Yeah, they blew it today-with a lot of help from the umpires. It happens. Its our SP that stinks. They are ranked 11th in the AL. Dombrowski is going to have to obtain another very good SP for us to be contenders for a ring. We have the prospects to get one.

I think I get what the "theme" of this season is now. We don't have many comeback wins. We have good chemistry, but most of our wins are from brute force earlier in the game. People don't see a cursed underdog in us anymore. We're the team that is destined to get brought down by an underdog in the postseason or right before the postseason. But we're trying to defy the narrative by winning the World Series due to pure talent, and we're going to have fun doing it.

 

And now that we've let the Blue Jays back into the season, the 3 way race for 1st is going to get real interesting pretty quickly.

Yeah, I know. Barnes has looked pretty good as of late with his FB hitting 98-100MPH. Why not bring him back for the 8th. Its not like he cant get a LHH out. Friggin Farrell seems to think that you HAVE to have a L on L matchup all the time and you dont. If a kid like Barnes looks good, you go eith the hot hand. Layne hasnt looked all that great and he hit a guy. taz completely blows in Toronto...this one is on Farrell IMHO.

 

I'd be more impressed if you had made this comment PRIOR to Layne, Tazawa, etc melting down. Afterwards is 20-20 hindsight.

Mike DiMuro ... mark that name up as one who needs to see his optometrist!

 

Let's at least send the right guy to the eye doctor. DiMuro was not behind the plate after the 2nd or 3rd inning. He got nailed with a foul tip and had to leave the game. Gorman (started the game at 2nd and took over) was the guy who was absolutley brutal behind the plate.

Pocello should have been out of that game with 2 runs scored. Gorman blowing the ball 4 to Donaldson cost him 2 runs and mayb another IP.

The umps suck but we were 8-4 in the 8th man. And then in the 9th we got the lead and again we blew it. Farrel never, ever should have allowed Tazawa stay in the 8th that long. He sucks against TOR. Then Kimbrel couldn't hold it in the 8th and in the ninth was not sharp.

 

Tomorrow we will destroy Dickey. Time to move on.

It's funny how roles change. First it's the starters s***ing the bed and the bullpen putting up zeros, then good starting pitching but the pen totally shits the bed. Oh well. on most days Kibrel doesn't give up the runs, or V doesn't dance around a ball letting someone move to third, or Hanley misplayiing that throw..........

Also, if there's a weakness to Kimbrel's game, it's his inability to start pitching in the middle of an inning with men on base. Most of his blow-ups have come in precisely those situations.

Yeah they should. But Farrell used Tommy Layne was absolutely dumb. I would run out a broken arm Uehara before Layne get put in that game. This manager was a former pitching coach, and Robbie Ross has yet to pitch in 8 days, and only 2 times in the last 16 days. It seems he has no f***ing clue what Ross is, he has 2 month to prepare in absent of Carson Smith.
