If the alternative is Owens, I keep Buchholz in the rotation.

It looks like the bullpen is settling down, with Koji healthy and the Sept callups helping out.

The rotation is miles better than it was two months ago, thanks to Price and the aquisition of Pomeranz.

The team is finally firing on all cylinders and at the perfect time.

Don't "experiment" with the rotation.

Last night JF gave Tazawa a chance to get some in game pitching. He did get the side out but I had to wonder with a 10 run lead, why he walked the guy in front of the best Oriole hitter. Was he trying to nibble? Didn't make sense and he walked him with a fast ball so he wasn't trying to try his other out pitches.

Carson Smith is going to come in handy once we get him back. And Miley's numbers are actually worse than Buchholz' on this year.

  • The news wasn’t as good for Red Soxrighty Steven Wright, who is dealing with shoulder issues, ESPN.com’s Scott Lauber reports. The knuckler may be able to begin throwing soon, but Farrell suggested that it will be a “challenge” for him to return to full duty in time to play a role late in the regular season or even the playoffs. Wright, 32, hasn’t maintained his breakout first-half production, managing only a 5.06 ERA in 42 2/3 innings over his most recent seven outings.

Farrell, Thanks for killing Wright. Jackass.

I wish I knew what Tazawa's issues are now.

I just hope there are more chances for Taz to work in low pressure situations.

That's the only way he's going to be anywhere near useful next month.

He didn't pitch a week+. It's rust.

Porcello and Price

Is very nice,

But are the rest

Up to the test?

Could be Spahn and Sain

Without the rain.

Pomeranz

Neither does ERod. He just needs run support.

5 of his last 7 starts:

6IP 4H 2 ER Lost 3-2

8IP 1H O ER ND (lost 1-0)

4 IP 0H 0 ER ND win 5-3

7 IP 3H 1 ER ND lost 4-2

6.1IP 3H 1 ER ND won 2-1

David Price, is on track to pitch the last game of the season. With Porcello if needed to pitch the one game playoff on the following Tuesday if needed. John Farrell already adjusted it ,so it can be like that. It was in the WEEI notes 2 days ago. That was reason Pomeranz was given the extra days rest.

Wouldn't it be something if Price ends up a 20 game winner?

With the day off before the last 6, if we are 7 up, he may switch to the listed other plan giving everyone a day extra before their last start.

I hope you're right! We hammered Bob Feller for about 13 runs in one of those games, and still lost the series. One more Spahn or Sain it wouldn't have been close!

Lol at suspending the GM. Hopefully that's not the only punishment, though...if the Red Sox (fairly, IMO) had prospects taken away for skirting the international signing rules, one would think the Padres deserve some sort of more tangible penalty (like loss of draft pick) for intentionally deceiving other clubs in trade talks.

Maybe give us their 3rd or 4th round draft pick.

Such ******** huh when every f***ing clubs did what the Red Sox did by giving more bonuses to the 'extra' attach signings.

He's losing a month of salary - so that sucks for him.

I am not sure baseball could do more - Preller violated "unwritten rules" as it were on the medicals - but he did not violate an actual rule. If he did - I am sure the punishment would have been much worse (say forcing the teams to renegotiate compensation)

Preller said that he did not purposely withhold information from the Sox.

I am certainly no expert on how these transaction go down yet I have a really hard time believing this guy divulged all that he knew about Pom's medical status.

Again, I don't know all the details but it seems funny that when the Sox presumably inquired about Poms health that Preller believe that he was being completely forthcoming with the complete report.

Or maybe the Sox were not thorough in their due diligence.

Either way, something smells.

From what I read, Pomeranz was receiving some type of treatment that the Padres failed to record or disclose it to the Sox. It appears to have been something relatively minor or else the Sox would have surely raised hell.

Well I just read an article by McAdam that says the Sox are pissed and very disappointed that MLB did not do more than the suspension. McAdam suggested that Pads pay the remainder of Poms 2016 deal or forfeit draft pick to the Sox.

I believe the punishment does not close the issue (since there are other trades with this issue) - hopefully they do something - I think a draft pick would be reasonable.

Price didn't seem to have it last night and was getting hit pretty hard. Good for us and him that the Sox were hitting enough to sink the Yankees again. Price seemed to revert to his performances earlier in the year when his command wasn't sharp.

Watching E-Rod pitch last night was very impressive. This is a very young ml pitcher with an upper body that looks constructed for the long haul. He may always be a powerful pitcher that people expect more from but over the years he could be very a very successful mid to upper rotation kind of guy. Any talk of trading him in any package would be much more silly than trading Espinoza for Pomeranz. E-Rod's time is now.

ERod is still a little up and down, but he's looking to have kmore ups recently. I like him as our number 3 in the playoffs, but I have no issue with Pom.
