It was a ton of fun scoring all those runs, but playoff bound teams need to win games where they only score 3 or 4 runs.

need more consistent pitching than we're getting for that.

Another example of the virtue of the attempted bunt. Why is it regarded as strange to let your .300 hitters swing away?

If Hanley's bunt worked it would've been regarded as brilliant (Especially vs a tough closer like Gregerson). It didn't work, so I have to ponder what would've happened if he went for a typical AB because Hanley's typical AB this season cld very well have been a hit anyway.

It was stupid. Do you think he works on his bunting? How many bunts has he lais down in the last 3 years? He doesn't bunt. You don't go to something that you never do and don't work on in a big spot. It would be like Gregerson throwing a screwball for the first time in that situation.

If Ortiz retires from baseball I'm retiring from watching baseball. I can't live without this

I concur.

It wasn't a bad bunt, if there was 1 out it'd been fine. Unfortunately there were two outs. Papi tied the game, so it was more of a free pass to try and win it if the defense was caught as off gaurd as I was. If we were down a run I could be upset about it.

It was a bad bunt. The only argument for it is completely tautological: if it had worked, it would have worked. Well duh.

I could easily have predicted David Ortiz falling one hit short of the cycle, but I would never have predicted it would be the single he missed out on.

Didn't see this before posting the same thing.

The tigers really stink this year. Orioles winning again. Ughh

Yup Detroit hasn't been great but still early. The White Sox this time last year I think we're top of the division and fizzled out half way into the season.

Meh... I've seen worse.

That bunt was one of the dumbest things I've seen. Pedroia's face when Hanley got to first was hilarious.

It is decisions like this and some of his base running decisions that had me skeptical about his ability to play 1B defensively in terms of the mental aspect. Thankfully, he has not had any Hanley moments at first so far.
