They will "asses" after Sunday's start. Want to get him up to 90-100 pitches. The Globe said this is supposed to be his final rehab start. We'll see.

They will either need Owens to pitch before ERod is in the rotation, call up someone else for a spot start, or have everyone pushed up a day as there are no days off.

Erod hasn't exactly had the greatest results in AAA so far but to be fair this is effectively his ST. After a very rough first inning in his last rehab start he did retire 13 of the last 14 batters he faced. Inherently I think they would like to give him more time........but I'm not sure who else they have to match up with Owens spot next week. It will be interesting to see what they do.

In his last start, ER was lousy, than very good. The hope is that Sunday will be a further step in the right direction. Owens is one of the very few Sox starters I've seen who can be sent to the showers before giving up 6 or 7 runs and before throwing 100 pitches. At least one famous manager once remarked, "if you don't have control, you have nothing."

I agree wholeheartedly. The Yankees are always scumbags. We can pity them when they're terrible, but it is the pity of the superior, the kind that you bestow upon someone not out of genuine remorse for their situation, but out of a sense of obligation, because society tells us we must pity those less fortunate than us, even when it was their own hubris that brought their situation down upon them. We pity them as some distant corner of our minds pity the primitive brain and scant emotions of a dying cockroach as we scrape it from the bottom of our shoe on the edge of a piece of concrete. But we never, ever allow ourselves to like them.

It appears from his games for Pawtucket that he at least throws the ball over the plate (5BB in 33 IP), which is more than could be said of one Henry Owens. Whether or not that's a good thing remains to be seen, although in theory the defense would have a chance to make a play.

up/down guy. Looking at his career it looks like he's had some good stints in the MLB and other times he's been horrible. Hopefully he can at least keep us in the game and not tax the bullpen.
