Lets keep underutilizing College Player of the Year. That was a professional 75th at bat striking out with bases loaded by Bryce. Great defender in LF too. And I suppose that too was a mirage.

Bryce played better in AA than Benintendi. Stop making the prospect out to be something more than he is right now. Someday he'll be better than Brentz, but that day is not today.

I know it's a little early to be talking like this, but I'll be happy if we make it to the Wild Card game this year.

Oh please no.

Price will start that game....

Not guaranteed if they are fighting for a spot down the stretch. I could see them throwing Price out there in game 161 or 162 to help ensure a WC birth.

If this were a movie script, the wild card game would come down to ... Buchholz.

Does he turn into 2004 DLowe?

I would go with Kimbrel and Ziegler and see if we can get the lead......We lose as many games in 1st as in the last inning.

LOL Good one.

The Sox better get it in gear and start taking over this division.

With an offense that scores 15 runs one night and can't get out of their own way the next, and a rotation with no real ace, I want nothing to do with a one game playoff.

After Wednesday's game, the Red Sox will have played 59 of 99 games at home, where the Sox so far have been winning at a .596 clip.

The Red Sox play 41 of the remaining 63 games on the road, where the Sox have been winning at a .525 clip.

Before the season I thought July would be critical for the Sox with 18 of their first 21 July games at Fenway Park. The Sox have responded well.

The road ahead could be rough, especially in September, when the Sox play only eight of 27 games at Fenway Park.

How the Os are leading the division is somewhat of an enigma. I am really more concerned about the Jays than I am about the Os, yet the Os somehow keep winning. I don't get it.

Just noticed your sig, BTW. It's hilarious.

I already put up the stat on the Os. They're 15-6 in games where only 4 runs or fewer are scored. The sox are 8-15. The Os have been clutch in these low scoring games and the sox have not. The Os will take this division if this team can't win the tight low scoring games.

The O's have a manager that seems to get the most out of his team.

pythagorean has them 53-45 so they are +5 games on the lucky side.

Boston is -1 game of theirs (56-41)

Toronto is -2 (58-42)

NYY as always is on the lucky side +4 (47-52)

Showalter does seem to do that.

Yet in 17 seasons he has no trips to the Series and an overall postseason record of 9-13.

Seriously, a Wild Card game would be kind of fun - especially if we win.

He took over a rough Yankees team and handed the keys over to Torre with the important pieces in place. Of his 3 years with Arizona, he only had Schilling for 1/2 of a year. The team won the WS the year after he left. The Rangers squad was pretty bad aside from ARod. They had a few prospects that they moved on from too early. The Orioles were a year in and year out bottom feeder until he came aboard. They have no pitching, but have had decent success.

It would be interesting to see how he'd do with a stacked team. The 1999 Arizona team was his best team and they won 100 games by bashing the crap out of the ball. They were a team built for regular season success.

What some people call 'clutch', I call 'lucky'. They are 15-14 in blowout games. That's not a good sign.

The Yankees are the luckiest team in baseball. OK, the Rangers might be a little luckier right now, but still.

Wow!

I had no idea Showalter was also the GM on those teams.

Impressive!

I never inferred he was. I was just stating that if he had been given a complete team that it would have been interesting to see the results. So far, his GM's have given him some very mediocre squads that he utilized well.

Certainly sounds like GM-like accolades to me.

They're also so general, they could mean pretty much anything.

A guess anyone with an axe to grind could think that.

I think it's because he's made a deal with the devil. As a former Yankee farmhand and manager, he knows the address. "Former" only get's you so far, though, hence his postseason record.
