  1. Does anyone else agree that they’d like to see sogard get a longer look at 2B? Sogard just has the look and sound of a ball player and I swear everytime he’s up he produces. I feel like he is definitely a top 30 2B in baseball at minimum. I think he’s better than (10) 2B starting on a major league roster this season. Obviously they see something internally to not give him a bigger shot but from the outside looking in he’s got the makeup to be an everyday contributor.
  2. It’s been an hour and passan, carrabis, milliken, bradfo, cotillo haven’t said anything soooooo pics or it didn’t happen.
  3. A month from now Connelly Early is going to throw a no-hitter in his Nationals debut while Mead will still have yet to record a hit in a Sox uniform.
  4. Everybody is reporting it’s a broken wrist/wrist fracture. There has got to be a huge issue in the Boston medical department because “X-rays were negative”.
  5. Stanton was traded 3 years into his 13 year $300 contract….
  6. But you aren’t trading half your team your trading half your prospects. They’ve done a real good job signing these younger guys to longer cheaper contracts to put around him and I think that’s something they can continue to do. But you have a core and a willingness to spend. Plus Witt doesn’t cost all that much now they have 4 years until opt outs kick in and that’s enough time to develop the newer prospects that we can hopefully get 1 or 2 to be meaningful contributors and maybe sign on that 7-10 yr $70-$100 million contract to put him around him to spend big for 1 or 2 more guys. but you don’t have to worry about half the teams contracts in the next 4 years a lot of these guys have 5+ years of control.
  7. Hahaha yeah this thread aged great. I loved reading the team going on a run comments
  8. I’ll say this the Red Sox will be forced to do something drastic in the next 2-3 years and they will pull a Witt, Skenes, or someone on their level in 2-3 years from the prospects but it’s coming, they saw what elite like papi did and that’s what the fans demand and that’s what Boston needs to figure their stuff out. Maybe they go a step lower for a Tatis/Elly De La Cruz level and a solid #2 but there will be a bigger name than Wilson or a Crochet SP project in Boston in 2-3 years. They are doing well building this scrappy core but a big name needs to tie it all together and I feel a Witt does that and I don’t think it takes them till Witt free agency to figure it out after watching Guerrero slip through the cracks and Soto pick the Mets after leaving the yanks and ohtani going to the dodgers with the angels going into reset mode and the Toronto going into free fall after losing him. i mean the reports are saying they already tried with trout multiple times and trouts at that level minus the injuries, The Sox want their next papi but they want the right choice. Witt is my pick
  9. Name 5 players better than Bobby Witt on both sides of the ball right now. Name 10 players better than him in the last 10 years. Bobby Witt is elite. Even as Red Sox fans we can respect Jeter. Bobby Witt is Jeter with a helluva lot better bat. He is an A++ defender and an A++ bat with A++ character, look what Jeter did for the Yankees over the course of 20 years. Teams no Witt can do that for them. And it didn’t take the farm to get the Yankees all them WS it was trading the farm and paying for talent around him. Witt is someone if you can afford to build a team around he will win you 3-5 World Series from now until he’s 40. He’s a waste in Kansas City, in 4 years they won’t be able to afford batters 3-9 in the lineup and 2-5 in the rotation. They can afford a Witt +1 (caglianone/jensen) and a good pitcher like “Cameron/healthy Ragans” but they will always be praying for old veterans or rookies to perform to be at the top. They may pay Witt but he will only bring them fans for a few years until the fans realize they can’t afford to build a team and they are smart enough to realize that now and he will be dealt within the next 2 years and you will have to pay your farm for a guy like that. If Soto cost Wood, gore, Abrams then Witt will cost more and then some. the Red Sox should and would trade the farm for him. They would trade Anthony, Abreu, Eyanson, Witherspoon, Arias, and Justin Gonzalez for him and then trade for another OF to replace Abreu but you have to trust that Bresbot and his team of nerds will continue to wheel and deal to keep that farm churning. Witt is someone you go all in on. If the Red Sox felt that way about Soto they would but that staff is smart enough to realize Witt and Soto are different levels. Witt is someone you give ohtani numbers too.
  10. Soto didn’t make sense. I’m glad we didn’t sign Soto he should have stayed with the Yankees. He reminds me of A Rod and I don’t like him.
  11. Yes because the Red Sox will pay whatever he demands and it’ll be 14 years not 4 at a position we haven’t had figured since bogey left honestly and before that Nomar.
  12. I don’t either. I just don’t want him in the OF outside of Fenway.
  13. Unless you going Anthony for Pena straight up. Yes Anthony may seem like an overpay but Pena is batting over 300 he has control he just tacked on 2 HR’s today for 11 on the year defense is elite and he’s proven. Anthony hasn’t proven anything yet. So if you want Pena without giving up Anthony arias is in that trade with some pitching prospects.
