Trade, not sign. They have a big talent surplus in the IF/C/OF positions. DD is known for using prospect depths to haul in starting pitching. I expect him to do the same thing this season, or next offseason.

mmm if they have payroll flexibly, I'd rather a FA but if Gray Carrasco Harvey, etc. are available via trade, it is ok for me... But IMO any of them would cost a big haul.

No worthwhile FA this offseason. Strasburg is the only really good one, but with his mechanics and history of inconsistency, I'd let someone else pay him.

They have passed on a lot good options in recent years. It was a mistake -like Lester- IMO. I'm not sure what is going to be available in 2017 but if what you say is true and if the guys I mentioned are untouchables -likely, IMO-, we will have to wait until 2018.

 

We'll see though.

Unless he runs into arm troubles, Syndegard is the most untouchable of the Mets young pitchers. Harvey an deGrom would be possible but expensive.
