Does anybody have Holt's WAR this season, or since the start of last year? I imagine it would be pretty high, but may be skewed because of the fact he can play anywhere.

Drew was an upper-tier SS just the year before, coming off of helping this team win a WS. The intention was always to re-sign him, but they waited him out once they saw his market dried up. Also, Bogaerts looking like a statue at SS didn't help.

You don't resign someone NO other team even wants.....hell, the Mets didn't want him. Plus, he had no Spring Training and was a total bust when he tried to his ML pitching when that miserable signing was made. I do agree that it was always the intention of the Red Sox to sign him but when they couldn't before the season they should have walked away and cut their losses. I think signing him had a very deleterious effect on Bogaerts as he fell through the cracks and was almost useless offense wise f or almost three months. And, if I may say, I never doubted they would sign Drew even though so many here told me to forget it, that Drew was history. He wasn't. We were the moment we signed him.

The Yankees obviously value him too.

He had multiple offers, Fred, but he wanted more money and years. You're either uninformed, or plain making stuff up to suit your argument. Neither a good way to try to prove a point.

Panic move by the babbling Cherington. He's famous for those. Remember Drew last May? Remember Sizemore a month or so before that? Question answered.

What are you talking about Fred? Cherington has been very patient, the opposite of one who would make panic moves. Signing Drew was not a panic move. It was a necessity once Middlebrooks went down.
