Hanley wanted to come back. He's pretty much done at SS. That left 3B, but we had Panda. So they asked him if he would play LF and he was willing to try, went through a lot of work during the winter in the DR. Can't fault him for the work ethic. But it's not going to happen overnight. Boston is NOT the place to plant a complete novice in LF. It's going to take time. Will the experiment succeed? Will he create more runs than he gives up?

Our pitchers do not know the meaning of "shut down inning".

Not Porcello's fault. A decent left fielder catches that ball

He makes an adventure of the final out too.

I expected that he would have better instincts in the outfield. Didn't he play the Outfield in our system one season?

To be fair, if it wasn't for Hanley being an idiot in the outfield, that run wouldn't be.

Fair enough, but it would be nice to see a pitcher pick up his defense after a bad play like that. Don't give up the 2 out hits.

I agree. Trying to fit square pegs in round holes is not a way to build a roster.

Yup, but until Ortiz retires, he's gotta play somewhere.

Definitely a work in progress, to be kind.

Fair point. Hanley makes an adventure of most outs.

Favorite Manny moment: when he kinda skipped, and kicked up a huge divot while falling towards the ball (which I think ended up behind him). Come on Dorn, get in front of the damn ball, don't give me this ole ********.

Our plus defense at work tonight! Lol! Machado gives back the error.

Hanley should have high fived a fan before throwing the ball to 2nd.

THAT would have been a Manny move!

Loved that play!
