Great game for Bucholtz. We need to have Curt Schilling talk s*** about him before every start.

And I like the Porcello extension. I'd say if Buch pitches good for his first couple of starts he will sign an extension as well.

I don't see an extension for Buch. The team has options for EACH of 2016 and 2017. A very good deal negotiated by Theo.

Hopefully Clay will be motivated this year by his financial future.

I'm into this deal.

I think it's too much money. But he's young, durable and trending upwards. Sometimes you have to overpay.

Also, how 'bout Pedroia?

All pitchers are overpaid. If they gave Clay this deal, I wouldn't like it.

Farrell is going to have to be creative to get all of the bats in the lineup to make them attractive as trade bait. Castillo had better tear it up at AAA if he wants to be called up anytime soon.

It is great to have a deep bench if guys accept their roles. THe manager does the not so easy task of keeping them all involved and game sharp. Some guys do not accept those roles. I remember Jay Payton acting like a jack hole about being a reserve.

They punched his ticket out of town in a hurry too LOL

Facing a lefty today I thought maybe Farrell would play Napoli and sit Ortiz but deep down I knew there was no way we could sit Papi on Opening Day. My resentment is for the National League with their myopic adherence to the past. Right, we go to the ballgame to see the pitchers hit. If baseball ever develops standard rules, the NL has to give ground on the DH.

Well, it seemed like Buchholz was stinging the ball pretty good today, although he didn't get any hits.... Took a couple of good plays to get him out - at least according to the radio broadcast. I certainly didn't expect that from him!

On NESN they were talking about how Buchholz used to be a great hitter and outfielder as well as a pitcher in college. During double headers, he would pitch for the first game and come back as an outfielder for the second game. It's kinda too bad he isn't in the NL.
And between games he stole laptops.
