"now those Cubs bandwagon fans are no where to be found"

"Mets are going to win the World Series, might not be the Yankees, but seeing my fellow NY brothers win is nice."

Any one else see the irony in those two statements?

I was hoping someone else would notice this. It's beautiful, isn't it? In a revolting sort of way; like watching an autopsy or an episode of Jersey Shore.

Cubs aren't a joke, they just ran into a buzzsaw. Murphy is playing out of his mind this postseason. It looks like the Cubs have a core of good young players, who knows, maybe they'll be back next year. The immediate future for them is looking better than it has for a long while.

The Cubs are no joke, and they are set up to be good for several years. The adage about the playoffs being a crapshoot is mostly true. It's not always the best team that wins, but rather the team that is playing the best ball at the time. I think the Cubs' inexperience may have caught up with them at the wrong time.

LOL I really didn't have anything against the Mets, but now I'm going to have to pull for whoever the AL team is. ;)

Of the three teams left, I'd lean towards the Royals anyways. Besides the fact that their last championship was before either of the others (though it only preceded the Mets by one year), they also have only one, while the Jays and Mets both have two.

That is very fair-minded and magnanimous of you.

Let me know how it feels to be on the same side as the Yankee fans.

Yankees fans are apparently now Mets fans, hence the need to pull for the AL team.

That's a very diplomatic way to look at it, so Royals it is!

However, I'm pulling for the Jays to win tonight, just so there will be baseball tomorrow night.

I am completely on board with that. 7-game series are always preferable, especially between two teams like these. Both of them are so much fun to watch. Between Toronto's lineup, KC's balance between offense and pitching, and the Met's rotation and Daniel Murphy, I don't really have too much of an issue who wins the ALCS. All I know is this is the most excited I've been about a World Series without the Red Sox in it.

If you think that, I'll bet that you don't know too many Yankee fans. Met fans hate the Yankees and vice versa.

Jose Bautista may not have hit as many home runs as some other people, but when he does hit them, they're f***ing huge. Game-tying shot in the eighth. If the Jays come back and win the series, he's going to be a legend in Toronto.

Managerial stupidity on full display in game 6 of ALCS. First, Gibbons doesn't let Price finish the 7 th inning and brings in Sanchez who gives up an insurance run. Then not to be outdone Yost leaves in Madison to pitch to Toronto's big boys in the 8th inning when he has a well-rested dominant Wade Davis in the pen. These guys shouldn't manage a 7 Eleven. The 3 remaining managers have a combined IQ in two digit territory.

I agree about Yost but the move by Gibbons made sense because Rios owns Price.

I know that Yankees and Mets fans hate the other teams. I'm being facetious because I know of at least 2 Yankees fans (out of 5 that I've had any contact with) who have suddenly jumped on the Mets' bandwagon.

Big time pitching by Wade Davis with second and third base and no one out.

With a little help from a generous strike call on Revere, which changed the whole complexion of that at bat. It might not have changed the outcome of the game or even of the at bat, but I hate to see the umpires take the bat out of a hitter's hands like that.

Everyone will pick the mets but i got a good feeling about this royals team. Royals in 6

I think, at least hope, it will be a good series. I thought that the Jays would end up winning last night's game after Bautista tied it, but the Royals have been resilient. To me, they look like a championship team. That could change in a heartbeat though.

No baseball until Tuesday. :(

I did read where the incoming rain was a factor. Yost didn't want to bring Davis in, then have him sit for a rain delay and come out again to pitch. But that happened anyway.

Anyway I think this has the potential to be a good World Series.

No more baseball that I care about until April.

I brought up the same points during this game. Pulling Price just seemed like a misplay, and Davis should have been okay for two innings. The only thing I could think of was that Yost knew about the weather and was trying to save Davis for after a delay.

I would have removed Price there too. In the regular season Rios has hit 382/432/735 against Price in 37 PA's. In an earlier at-bat in last night's game he hit a foul ball that was almost a home run and then hit a bullet up the middle for a single.

And you saw the result of taking out a big time stud who had been cruising since the second inning who wasn't tired and replacing him with your number 3 bullpen guy based on a small sample of Matchup stats accumulated over a number of seasons. It is a stupid move and he paid.

37 PAs isn't exactly a small sample size. It's close to the middle of number of matchups for guys who have both been playing for at least a few years. In 29 ABs, David Ortiz is 4 for 29 against Brian Matusz, with 2RBI and 13Ks, plus not a single home run. If I were a manager, I would pull my starter in the late innings and replace him with Matusz when Papi came up, as indeed Showalter usually does. The same goes in reverse.

Over 6 years it doesn't mean much.

And at some point a guy makes an adjustment and the numbers go in the other direction. I would almost never take out a great pitcher to replace him with a so-so pitcher based on some Matchup stats. I am not saying never, but the case would have to be compelling. My philosophy is that you let the great pit her finish the inning if he is pitching a good game unless he is clearly gassed.
