I rarely read Boston columnists or listen to sports talk radio, but as I was scanning the channels today, they were talking about Victorino saying something like it would be wise if the Sox traded their prospects for Hamels. Apparently Mazzerotti commented that Victorino was inferring trading a young OFer or two so he didn't have any competition. Victorino took offense and wants Maz to come to Florida and make the comments to his face. What's he going to do - smack him around in front of his buddies for stating the somewhat obvious? Sounds like a mature way to continue the discussion, don't you think?

Very few ST Sox games on MLBTV. They should have added more. Tomo vs ATL on ESPN. Edited by iortiz

Mazz is a massive douche though.

Isn't he? f***, what a loser you have to be to come out with some of the pathetic s*** he does.

It's what makes him money. The new millenium has brought about the unpleasant ability to turn being a raging douche into profit.

Mazzerotti used to be calm, pleasant, and informative when he was a beat writer and on WEEI. Since he changed jobs, he has become a screaming turd. I wonder which persona is/was an act. But it's not like either of the two radio stations has anybody worth listening to.

Once again, Boston writer talk show or whatever trying to make a story out of nothing. Tomase's article is a good read. No story there at all other than Victorino's overall health.

Let's not be too panicky and rush Swihart up to the Red Sox. I think a couple of months honing his hitting and catching full time will make him more ready when he does come up.

I agree. He may be a top prospect but he does have work to do. At least behind the plate.

Let the kid mature and learn the game properly. He has skills that need more work.

He is. It is bad enough to listen to what he says. I usually do not like what he says.

But that high pitched screech of a voice!!! It's so irritating. He sound like he has had a tracheotomy.

I know it's only spring training, but it's almost comical the way Mookie is raking.

How about that last play. We likely won't mistake Mookie for JBJ but I don't care if it is spring training or not. He looks good and spring training serves some purpose. I didn't catch the name of the person who said it down there but calling him the best player that they have seen in Florida this spring has value.

Buccholtz looked pretty good out there today. It was encouraging . He looked confident.

Really? I still see a guy who stinks.

Stinks - really - I guess your expectations are greater than mine. I won't be confusing him with a legit stopper but I don't think he stinks.

12 hits and 4 runs in 5 innings and 96 pitches is pretty good?

I guess that I really have to lower my standards

Can't disagree with you. I had to leave the house one inning to soon. I actually did think that he looked better than his last outing. Pretty sad huh.

Farrell has been hinting at the possibility that Swihart could be on the big league roster if Vazquez has to start the season on the DL.

Clay was shaky today, but one positive that you can take from his outing is that he apparently was able to make some pitches when he was in a jam. That's not much but it's better than an all out implosion, I guess.

I was not aware that today's game was on tv so I did not see Buch pitch. But he looked like crap in a previous outing when it was said that he had a strong outing. He was tagged in that game even if the stat line did not indicate it.

I think anyone that believes that Buch at 30 is about to put it all together is way too optimistic. Or even has their head up their ass.

He's a .500 pitcher at best. The flashes of brilliance were tantalizing but that's it.

If a fan can say after that a hitter can not and never will hit after one almost full season of MLB ball then I feel justified in saying Buch will never be a productive major league pitcher.

Of course I hope that I am wrong.

He sucks donkey dicks and that is that.

Mookie has the highest OPS in all of spring training right now. 1.435.

Mike Trout comes in at #2 with 1.320.

Bryant is 1.785. He was over 2.000 a couple days ago, I think.

Couldnt have said it better myself lol. Our pitching staff is still a concern.

Think what you like and I am not sure that I totally disagree but he did look better today then he did in his last outing. In the first 5 (I think it was 5) he threw one really bad pitch that got blasted. If he "sucks donkey dicks") as you say, then I would have to say that without at least one major trade this team will be lucky to be a .500 team. curious - what do you think? You think they can win the east without him?

I'll answer your question first. I don't think that it is likely that he will help the Sox take first. I doubt that this team will win the division without two more quality starting pitchers.

Again, I did not see him pitch today. But 4 runs off of 12 hits in 5 innings plus one batter is not what I see as quality pitching. 96 pitches????????

Yes he does suck donkey dicks. I say this based on watching flail for most of seven years. Not because he is getting pasted this ST.

He is a dope and has no capacity to control an AB.

He should have been traded to the Cards. Oh wait. The Cards were smart and grabbed a functional and productive pitcher in exchange for crap like Buch. My bad.

In anticipation of someone pointing out that Laptop had 6 Ks today I will say this.

That is about 10K/9 in rough math. OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!

But consider this. 12 hits in 5 innings is about 22 or so hits in 9 innings. and 4 runs in 5 innings is over a 7.0 ERA.

Oh yes. He is just fine.
