The dwarf knows s***. The price for Hammels may go up as July gets closer if teams perceive the need. So the dwarf is not on point.

Id say Amaro is getting desperate to make some moves since he didn't do much to rebuild in the offseason.

I think that if the Red Sox do make a move for Hamels it will take a third team to get the deal done. That's why I think a team like the Padres still come involved even in that scenario. That's due to the fact they are willing to make moves this time of year.

My projected trade would be.

Red Sox get

Cole Hamels

Padres get

Barnes

Phillies pitching prospect

Phillies get

Andrew Cashner

Brian Johnson

Garin Cervelli

This trade would help all teams.

Red Sox get their ace caliber pitcher

Padres get the infield player they need plus a pitching prospect to add depth in the minors.

Phillies get a MLB caliber pitcher to fill straight in for Cole Hamels. Cashner is on a 1 year deal and with Hamels off the books they can go out and have money to spend next offseason on another pitcher to start the rebuild. Plus they get two high tier prospects to start adding depth to the minors to get the ball rolling and maybe will start the idea that Amaro is working for the future and can keep his job.

The dwarf correctly predicted the Phillies would deal Cliff Lee to get Roy Halladay, then correctly predicted they would pair Halladay and Lee, then was all over the "rebuilding effort" before it even began. He has a mole in the Phillies organnization, so I would take what he says with some degree of seriousness.

That trade makes no sense for the Padres.

Also, do you mean Garin Cecchini?

I honestly think this was Philly's plan all along. My bet is Amaro knew he wasn't getting Betts or Swihart, but started the bidding there to maximize return. Hamels isn't a contract year guy, so there's no benefit to dealing him prior to the season. I think he knew dealing him and his big contract wouldn't net him a top 25 prospect like Betts or Swihart. That being said, I definitely see Owens going if it's for Hamels.

The Porcello contract is a futures play as much as it is good business. If Porcello reverts to the guy he was 2-3 years ago, then they are paying too much for a guy who will still eat some innings. If he builds off his 2014 and either improves or stays at that level, then this deal is great. If Porcello came out and threw 210IP of 3.20ERA in 2015, then his contract would have been for the same AAV but over 7-8 yrs instead of 4

You nailed it pretty well.

You're right Kimmi........Pedroiphile, also known as Mark from New Hampshire, used to communicate regularly on another board and got along well until the collapse of 2011 which I predicted and he thought was just a blip on the radar. From there our relationship went to hell and on your other board he sent me a real nasty PM. To me, the guy could NOT admit he was wrong and he made it personal. Frankly, I hope we can put that all aside and be respected colleagues again. After all, I'm the Dean and have to set an example and I can't do that being a horse's ass. The thing you and others must understand is that 700 Hitter and Iortiz are two of my closest friends on this board and I have this itch to defend them when they are attacked. I'm hoping the attacks cease and we move on to better things this season as hopefully do the Red Sox.

Fred, you continue to post things of a personal nature about how wrong, nasty, and terrible some of us were on the other board. Not only was that a long time ago, but more importantly, your opinion is just a bit negatively slanted against us. In other words, we are not and were not nearly as bad as you paint us to be. Please, just stop.

I was just reading on MLB trade rumors while the delay in New York was going on that Ken Rosenthal says the Phillies should revamp talks with the Red Sox on dealing Cole Hamels. He stats that the Phillies should ask for lesser prospects than Swihart and Betts and go after guys like Owens, Rodriguez, Johnson, and some others that I can't recall.

2 points on the statement:

1st.

I think at some point the Red Sox will trade for Hamels. But I don't think his opening day outing showed him well for other AL teams to drive up his price of hugh ceiling prospects. Who's to say that he won't get shelled by AL teams when he has a DH to contend with game in and game out. He had the advantage of pitching against us in a NL park and still got shelled. But I still say he will be in a Red Sox before this year is out. I know it's early in the year but if the Sox start to struggle to keep the runs lower than what the offense will handle I'd say they make a move.

2nd.

I think the Padres are a dark horse to obtain Cole if any other team other than the Sox were to make a move this early in the year. With their current moves to revamp the roster they could put Cole as ace 1a beside of James Shields and they would in my opinion be as good if not better to come out of the NL west and smoak the Yankees of the West Dodgers.

In conclusion:

I think Rosenthal is just drumming up talk because the Phillies are telling him inside info that they want to move him after they filled seats on Opening Day.

Dupree, good to see you back posting here. I missed your missives. As for Hamels, one game does not a season make and I would still make a play for him if the Phillies demands have come down a notch or two. Face it, we have a large surplus of players who rate fairly high down on the farm and some of them might never see Boston because of what we have now and in the high minors. I would like to get that pitcher as soon as possible because it would enhance our chances of getting to the post season.

So would I even though I know you're not a Hamels fan. I am and think right now he is the best option for us. Face it, we can use a good top notch starter and I am not discouraged at the way he looked in Game No. 1. His past performances against the AL East could be cause for concern but we have a surplus of prospects, some of whom might never get to Boston. I would like to get our pitching in order before too long and before some of the current stock start breaking down.

I think we know one of the nasty ones that came over.

Believe me, you have no idea about that guy. He answered my call for unity and cooperation this season with a vile and nasty PM to me this morning. Hey Kimmi, bet you didn't know that, did you? We've agreed not to answer any posts by the other and that should stop the clamor. So far, this board is getting along pretty well in the short term. Maybe winning helps a lot too.

LMAO. Rosenthal called a dwarf. He's also in a bowtie. Yes, let's bring more attention to one's self. He's already some team's mascot and doesn't know it yet.

Could be. I was not on board when Dutchy did most of his bad stuff. If it is him then he should be banned for what he did to Youk.

I'm curious.

Why are all your "calls for unity" preceded by insults?

I've tried to keep our exchanges private.

Obviously, that's not what you want.

Who in the hell are you you repulsive little puke? Do you ever add anything that even remotely relates to baseball or is this just your little way of playing some kind of queer little game? Your posts are nothing but direct attacks . I can live with someone who criticizes me if they are talking baseball. You do not. You are a hater. Baseball??? I know that Fred doesn't need me to back him up but you add nothing. All that you have done is criticize? Baseball?

And you're a sensitive little bitch.

I'd say we're even.

Ok, I'm sorry I said it didn't matter if Buchholz pitched the opener.

You obviously took it to heart and I apologize.

Was that basebally and touchy-feely enough for you?

That's ok. I'm not really what you would call touchy feely. I missed it when you said something that had anything to do with baseball.

I really want to put this s*** behind us once and for all. You apparently didn't buy what I was saying and sent me that rotten PM which I thought was uncalled for. The ball is in your court. We can try and put this behind and proceed from this point or have a cold war on this board. I'd rather not have that. It is time to move on.
