I'm sorry but you are blind. You saw the thing play out..you saw Ueh struggle to get three outs and you want to commit him to six. At best, Farrell would have been justified in having Ueh go four outs if he had to. He did not have to because Bres did not have to come out and you can't go back and blame the Soriano play. I can just as easily say, the Sox do a poor job of holding runners and the old man never should have been able to steal the base in the first place. Besides Bres was pitching to a LH hitter at the time AND got him out. Staggering...I can see making the argument if the thing did not play out exactly as it should have but continuing to argue the point while not trusting your own eyes is a kind of stubborn I will never understand. So I'm out.

More like arguing the odds vs how a single game (and all the noise that comes with any data point). Holding over Uehara to a point where he might not have impacted an important game of bullpens is low percentage. Would I concede that Breslow against a lefty is a fair reason to let Uehara sit until it gets hairy? That is a fair argument.

But playing the percentages here - in a tie game in the 9th (10th, 11th whatever), what is your first job - to not lose and to keep the game going? Who is best equipped to keep the game going? Your best pitcher. Means you have to figure out a way to negotiate the part after we take the lead - but that's a good problem to have. The bad problem is the one where the other team is piling up on the plate while your best pitcher is ready in the bullpen. Tonight was overcoming adversity - some of our own creation. It's a hell of a team.

Okay, no one else is allowed to use anything but the default font, it's actually really obnoxious when everyone does it. Reminds me too much of NateGrey.
I was just joking. It livened things up a bit, but I will abide by your request.

EAT A DICK YOU f***ING YANKEES! HAHAHAHAHA

Don't worry Jacko, they'll be more coming. Good win boys. Love coming home to the good news after a long day at work. My co workers decided to oen their mouths too early. They should know better not to count out the Sox.

I wasn't being completely serious either, I just realized after all those posts that it would get annoying really quickly, probably.

That game was....outrageous.

I think Victorino went, but I also think Wells was out at 3B. So, that made the calls even. Both teams still had a chance to get out of the situation after the blown call, and both teams cracked under the pressure. Either way, the Sox won.

Two things. First, Farrell has got to stop it with the "running the starter back out there when he's over 100 pitches and it's past the 6th inning". I can't even begin to count how many times that's torched him this year, yet he continues to do it. If he does it during a PS game, I'm going to lose my s***.

Second, Thornton is NOT a post season roster candidate. Not even close. I know he's got a 1.59 ERA with the Sox, but he gives up entirely too many hits, and I 100% do not trust him in any big game situation. Give me Britton, Breslow, and/or Doubront from the left side out of the pen.

You mean like when he did it with Lester two games earlier and Lester had a clean 7th and we won 2-1? Funny how nobody made a fuss over that.

Come on man, it's not that simple. Peavy had a good 6th inning, he was at the bottom of the order and he was on a short leash.

Thornton was a bad choice, obviously. Should have used Breslow there.

I'm sure it's selective memory/confirmation bias, but I really think there have been many more examples of leaving guys in and it biting than of leaving them in and it helping.

Pettitte going tonight for the Yanks. Bogaerts hasn't played since the final game of the White Sox series, so 4 games off other than some late inning blowout replacements. I'd imagine he'll be in there at SS tonight.

Me too I was okay with peavy for one more out but the moment he walked a batter he should have been pulled for breslow. Thornton has not been good and worse for holding inherited runners
