MVP just can't resist the urge to be a prick. Pay him no mind. In this case as in most instances, he gets things wrong.

Come on now, that small conversation wasn't anything serious. You also take shots by calling names, we all do. MVP is no different than anyone else on the site.

Either one. Jeter's a full time player, and not someone who pitches for one inning at a time.

Out of the two of them, Jeter's the most likely to make it to the HOF on his first try.

We were talking about most respectable, not who plays better.

You guys are going out of your way to bully someone.

This us vs. "sensitive people" clique s*** needs to stop.

Yep. So? He enjoys being a prick without provocation. I am just telling it like it is. ;) Edited by a700hitter

IMO, playing better is part of what makes you respectable.

Why do you think Mo's more respectable than Jeter, then?

If the kid wasn't 14, you wouldn't say we were bullying. The fact that this is being made into an argument is retarded. It's not bullying, it's an opinion. I also think "rooting" for a player in pinstripes is also considered rooting for the Yankees.

Did he actually say he roots for Derek Jeter? I legitimately didn't see the post where he said it, so I don't know. If he just says he likes Derek Jeter, that doesn't mean he necessarily roots for him. I think he knows that better than you do.

You'd be bullying regardless in this situation, and the fact that he's 14 just makes it even more shameful that you're going out of your way to do this.

What do you think it is? Giving him s***?

And this conversation was had when he first came on the site. It was not an issue in this thread until Mr. Snarky prick made it one.

I'll let you have the last word because this isn't worth a second of my time.

Well then, my job is done. :)

I hate the Yankees with the passion of a thousand burning stars, but the man in this picture above is one of my all-time favorite players. I can't help it. He's a tremendous person, and represents everything that is right about the game of baseball. It stinks that he pitches for the team of Satan, but I cannot help but like and respect the guy a ton.

It helps that I have actually met him.

They both will be. Neither will be unanimous, because some dope voter will vote against them on "principle". But they are absolute lock first-ballot HOFers, make no mistake about it.

Rivera would be the first closer to make it first ballot if I remember correctly.

I think there's a good chance with how petty the voters are that he gets snubbed his first time just because of that. They intentionally snubbed Robbie Alomar for one year, and they can definitely do it to Rivera for being a closer.

Jeter is an absolute lock for the first ballot, though.

Look, I don't really give a s***. Thunder said his favorite player was Jeter. Does that make him less of a Sox fan? No.

So, your post was admittedly pointless. I guess it was just meant to annoy.

An the streak of not winning two in a role continues. Last nights loss to LA was hard to watch from the offensive perspective. The Sox wasted another great outing by Lackey. They get two lefties the last two games of the series. Teams are going to start lining up as many lefties against the Sox that they can. The team needs to pick it a little and start stringing some Ws together.

I hate the West Coast trips. So far they are 2 and 3 (leading today's game as I type).

Btw Behindenemylines, the Sox figure to face lefties Capuano, Chen, and Hector Santiago in the next five games. :(

What a west coast NL-only road trip! Going 4-2, taking down the defending champs (though they're not as good this year, but still) and the hottest team in baseball over the last 2 months....sweet.

Meanwhile, look at the starting pitching during these six games:

Lester (vs. SF): 8.1 ip, 6 h, 0 r, 0 er, 2 bb, 3 k

Peavy (vs. SF): 5.2 ip, 5 h, 1 r, 1 er, 1 bb, 4 k

Doubront (vs. SF): 8.0 ip, 5 h, 1 r, 1 er, 1 bb, 3 k

Lackey (vs. LA): 8.0 ip, 3 h, 2 r, 2 er, 0 bb, 6 k

Lester (vs. LA): 7.1 ip, 3 h, 1 r, 1 er, 4 bb, 6 k

Peavy (vs. LA): 9.0 ip, 3 h, 1 r, 1 er, 1 bb, 5 k

TOTAL: 46.1 ip, 25 h, 6 r, 6 er, 9 bb, 27 k, 1.17 era, 0.73 whip, 5.2 k/9

I mean, that is *dominant* stuff right there. The amazing thing is that, with this starting pitching, the Sox only went 4-2. We had the bullpen meltdown in the Peavy SF game, and then got shut out by Nolasco in the Lackey LA start. But holy smokes, it's nice to have a rotation whereby every night out you expect to get a good start. Hopefully Buchholz* comes back strong at the start of September and replaces Dempster, and then the rotation is a healthy/effective Buchholz, a renewed Lester, Lackey, Peavy, and Doubront. That would be sweet.

*He didn't exactly light the world on fire last night in his rehab start, but the key isn't so much the results, it's how his body feels afterward.

The Sox started their 16 road games out of 19 games up one game on the Rays and finished it one game up on the Rays. They finish the season with 18 of their 30 games at home. They have more off days then the teams behind them which will allow them to set up their rotation to better matchup who they are playing. The SP on the west coast trip pitched much better and that is going to be needed because you know the Rays pitching is not going away.

The Rays SP isn't going away, but their offense easily can. If it wasn't for Longoria, the Rays could have been swept by NYY. They are going out west this weekend for 10 games, and those AL West parks are all pitcher friendly. The Rays rely on the long ball too, so a pitcher's park can easily shut them down. One Bryan Villareal away from a 5-1 trip.

Not exactly. The Giants had a 65% win probability in that game even without Villareal entering the game.

(Just yankin' your chain there, man...:D)

Hey, if they can "tread water" through the end of the season and end up winning the division by one game, I'm cool with that.

Well, we've won big games when we needed too. This Saturday was one, last Saturday was one, and last Wednesday was one. Those wins kept us from going into a slide.
