There is no reason for this thread and the one you started less than an hour earlier to be separate.

All kinds of folks starting all kinds of threads these days. Crazy!

They are different topics. If you want to merge them, you're the mod. Do what you gotta do.

Well, yesterday was a pretty good day for the Sox. Stomped SF, and Tampa lost. Day off today and root for Toronto to beat NY. Then the pitching the next three games is scheduled as follows:

BOS at LAD

Lackey vs. Nolasco

Lester vs. Ryu

Peavy vs. Capuano

NY at TB

Kuroda vs. Hernandez

Sabathia vs. Archer

Nova vs. Price

Take 2 of 3 from LA, and I guess hope NY takes 2 of 3 from TB?

We catch a break by not having to face Greike or Kershaw, or a hot Dodger team not getting to hit against a struggling Dempster. If the Sox can return home from the west coast having gone 4-2 that would be great. Tuesday's lost though is still stinging.

Yeah, that would be a good trip. I'd take that in a heartbeat. And yes, big break not facing Kershaw especially.

As long as they come back from the coast with a 3-3 record, they should be in good shape. The best we can hope for this weekend is for the standings to look the same on Monday as they do today. I don't want the Rays or the Skanks to gain any ground this weekend. I fear the Rays most of all, but it is too soon to stick a fork in the MFY's.

I really will be disappointed if we don't win the division. It is there for the taking. The Sox have had a great season, but the importance of each game will continue to ratchet up until the end of the season. Wins will be very hard fought and there is no leeway for stupid play or managing. They can't afford to give away any games.

There are a whole boatload of things this team does that are terrific especially when they are within the bounds of what they do to generate offense and then a whole boatload of things I would prefer to see stop like:

- Vic's throw to 1st base from RF....he has now dropped two balls trying to rush to make a throw that by his own admission has never worked once in an entire career.

- Pedey swinging to go yard

- Nava running "relentlessly" (...reminds of what a turtle running relentlessly must look like)

- Butterfield encouraging Nava to run relentlessly

- Farrell managing for some circumstance that is way off the radar screen as opposed to managing the game that is right in front of him

- Farrell using his best and sometimes only relievers in meaningless outings

- Salty throwing to 1st or 3rd (absolutely cannot find those two bases from behind the plate)

- Lester nipping at corners

- Buch extending long toss to the point where he is out in the parking lot throwing to a guy standing in RF (get on the mound!)

- Villareal pitching in any circumstance where the 7 run rule has not been employed

Obviously I am having a little fun with this but in truth I would be happy if I did not see any of the above

I got the fun theme of your post, but the line above was the best in the post. The next funniest was Nava and the relentless turtle. He does run like a turtle.

Warren vs Dickey and Pettitte vs Happ?

I can definitely see the Blue Jays winning both of those, or at the very least splitting.

Your vision was a little off there man. Yankees took 'em both.

I don't think we want a sweep by either team.

I don't mind if the Rays sweep as long as the Sox do too.

For this weekend series, the Sox need to sweep and the Yanks need to take 2/3. I'd be pumped if the Sox were up 3 games on the Rays and 7.5 on the Yanks on Monday.

That's the ideal situation. Lets go streaking!

Us sweeping the Dodgers is a bit of a longshot. Taking 2 of 3 would be a fine achievement.

The pitching matchups are in our favor. If Lester pitches like he did on Monday against Ryu, we have a shot at the sweep.
