Or we could hold onto them and wait for them to blossom into productive big leaguers and then when we're established as a yearly contender, we can start being more flexible with our prospects. We have some amazing talent in our farm right now and I'm not willing to give up a significant portion of it for 3 years of a guy who's approaching his late 30's.

I think we're 1 starting pitcher away from being a true contender. As crazy as it sounds, I'm most confident in Lester and Lackey coming down the stretch. After that, I have no confidence in anyone. I have no confidence in Buchholz's "health", more like his balls. I have no confidence in Dempster or Doubront. Workman looks intriguing but he's young. If it takes trading JBJ for Lee, do it. At least it's not Xander. You gotta give something to get something..

I think the pieces are here to make a postseason appearance and once you get in, anything can happen. I hope Ben decides to stay on track and not to mortgage a big part of the future to increase the chances of short term success.

I'm tired of hearing the "Well we're not supposed to be here anyway blah blah blah." Well guess what, we are here. And when you get here, you should do everything in your power to live for the moment and go for it! Championships are rare. Any time you get a chance to win one you go for it! You do anything to try and avoid possible collapses. What happens if Buchholz's balls hurt again or Dempster's back acts up? Then people will bitch that the Sox shouldve made a move...
