Red Sox, White Sox Agree To Jake Peavy Trade

The Red Sox and White Sox have agreed to a trade that will send Jake Peavy to Boston, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports (Twitter link).

Hell yeah! I really wanted Lee, but if the price was too high I'll gladly take Peavy. All I wanted was another SP who we could rely on down the stretch.

MLB - If Cliff Lee goes anywhere it will most likely be the Dodgers, that being said it isn't very likely, Cardinals also a small chance.

Dodgers don't have the prospects. How would the Phillies justify just giving away Lee?

I don't know how Doubront can't be relied on, he's had 14 consecutive starts of 3 runs or less and 10 of those fourteen he has gone at least 6 innings.

Phillies likely hood of trading Cliff Lee now that Red Sox are out of the running is slim to none, Phils wasting opportunities.

 

MLB - Phillies could have ate a large portion of Cliff Lee contract and gotten a kings ransom of prospects, instead likely to get nothing.

 

MLB - Phillies are not a small market team and could easily have taken on a large portion of Lee's salary to get a great deal, blown opportunity.

 

This time tomorrow more than likely Cliff Lee & Chase Utley will remain Phillies 5 years from now this decision will likely haunt Phils fans

Maybe Young plays 3rd and XB plays short or maybe XB goes to 3rd, Young is a bat but he is swiss cheese defensively. If Iggy is the only really major piece we give up to get Peavy that will IMO be a really smart move assuming Lee was just too costly. I can't believe we would give up a bunch for Young. We would just pass on Young before we would do that I think. If it does work out like it is sorta' looking, I would call that well played by the Sox even though I hate losing Iggy.

 

Iggy has lots of work to do to be a steady ML bat. I think he will get there but when???? Sox IMO will run out of patience first anyway.

 

NESN just reported that there is "no trade currently in the works involving JBJ." They could of course be wrong but that is what they just reported.

I seem to remember Iggy being totally pissed off at the Sox earlier this year when he was sent down. "Revenge is a dish best served cold". Hope Iggy does not have an appetite.

 

Still have to go back to considering whether Iggy would have fit in the Sox long term plans. Sure he is not going to end up optimally placed from a Sox perspective but I would take my chances on Iggy hurting me. Iggy being able to hurt us this year is far from a sure thing. Won't prevent me from crying real tears if Iggy is eventually standing there with a knife in his hand that has my blood dripping from it.
