Gordon Edes

Marlins source tells me "no way" to any Stanton talk.

So it's not for Peavy and it's not for Stanton. Come on Lee or Lee and Young!!!

Those guys getting pulled is significant. The Phillies would be nuts not to take a package of Sox top prospects plus a half or so of Lee's salary. Indicates they are willing to deal Bradley--unfortunately. But they have Ellsbury, and Lee would make them dominant if Buchholz came back.

Out of the four guys you listed (aside from Brentz and Kalish), the only one I ever want to see manning CF is Victorino. Gomes in CF makes me want to hurl just thinking about it. Same for Carp really. Nava isn't horrible, but he's not a CF by any means.

Free agency isn't a horrible move to replace Ells should he leave, but it's a crap shoot and a lot of money will be involved. Not saying I think JBJ should be off-limits, just that there's other considerations in play if we deal him.

Henry just said he wanted to re-sign Ellsbury. In their thinking, that makes Bradley expendable.

Lee, Buchholz, Lackey, Lester + Doubront/Dempster/Workman. That's one helluva competition for a #5 spot.

I would suspect that because of A) his contract and B) his status as a veteran, that Dempster would get the #5 spot with Doubront and Workman as long men out of pen.

I'm surprised that Workman wasn't included in a trade. I thought he was one of the Rule 5 guys the Sox would trade to clear spots to protect other guys.

He still might be. Perhaps for a reliever? He showcased himself pretty well tonight, that's for sure.

I want this to happen pretty bad. I know some people cringe at the thought of trading JBJ, but hey if you asked me whether I would want to keep him or Xander, I'll keep Xander.

A rotation of Lester, Buchholz, Lee, Lackey and either Dempster/Doubront/Workman would be awesome. And if Buchholz's return is unsuccessful then choose 2 from Doubront, Dempster and Workman for the 4th and 5th slots..

I just assumed that if Bradley was pulled for a trade and if Workman was included in it then he'd have been pulled too. You're right as it could always be a different trade and I feel like we needed a reliever more than a starter at the deadline anyway.

Agreed. What sucks though is that all of the top relievers have already been dealt. Time for Ben to get creative.

Workman was pitching for his first major league win. If I was trading for him, I wouldn't want to take that away from him.

Wow. Nice job by Workman there.

That kid can pitch. Stays around the strike zone. Gets the curve over. You just never know how these kids are going to do when they come up. Some get better.

Reports said that Red Sox didn't add another reliever because they believe their pitching depth will be good enough. Britton has pitched well, Workman may end up in the pen, and Morales and Wilson are heading to rehab assignments.

I see a lot of arms in Pawtucket who can help out in the BP. Plus there are arms out there on other teams available for minor prospects.

Jeff Passan also saying no trade eminent for the Red Sox. Passan never reported on the Red Sox for a while, but ever since he put out details about some of the s*** last year, it seems like he's had a source in the organization.

That's fair enough. Though, I'm not sure I have all that much confidence in Wilson's ability and Morales' health.

If JBJ has been pulled for a trade, I don't see it for a reliever anyway. Seems like it would be Lee or preparatory for the possibility of a Lee trade. They are down to the end here. So, even if the deal is not done, it would make sense to get JBJ out of a game if he is involved. After all, its the minor leagues.

Very true.

I'd say Iglesias being taken out for Snyder is not exactly a 'defensive replacement'

More like defensive indifference.
